The Young and the Restless
Young and the Restless Recap September 25, 2026: Nikki Newman Is Picking Fonts, And Diane Jenkins Is Picking a Fight
This Young and the Restless Recap catches Diane plotting against Nikki’s Vibrante, Kyle’s motel close call, and Matt’s goodbye to Phyllis.
THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP DECLARES A LIPSTICK WAR
TL;DR: This Young and the Restless Recap catches Diane Jenkins plotting to ambush Nikki Newman’s Vibrante launch while Nikki fusses over logos and extracts a very flimsy promise from Victor Newman, Kyle Abbott sweating through a motel-hallway ambush with Victoria Newman hiding behind the door, Matt Clark saying goodbye to Phyllis Summers in the most Genoa City way imaginable, and Nick Newman getting a genuine thrill out of his inbox before lining up a surprising sponsor.
Nikki and Diane Draw Battle Lines
Nobody threw a drink, nobody pulled hair, and Nikki Newman and Diane Jenkins never set foot in the same room, yet this Young and the Restless Recap still opened on a declaration of war. For context, these are two women who once staged a full-on catfight in the Jabot boardroom, so a turf battle over lipstick counters is practically a spa day for them.
Diane got home to the Abbott mansion, where Jack Abbott met her with a martini, and she repaid him with a gossip report. Vibrante hasn’t been formally unveiled yet, but the Jabot staff can’t stop whispering about it, and according to Diane, the rumors have lit a fire under the whole office. Jack, auditioning for Most Careful Husband of the Year, announced he’d keep his opinions about Vibrante to himself because he knows the topic makes her twitchy. Diane gave that noble vow a very short life expectancy.
Once she swore she could live with the whole thing, Jack confessed he’d love to cool things down with Nikki. Diane’s counteroffer? She intends to flatten her. Strictly business, of course. Nothing personal at all. (This from a woman who was once married to Nikki’s husband, so “nothing personal” was carrying a truly heroic amount of weight.) She’s arming Jabot with a counter-campaign, her husband looked less than thrilled, and Diane insisted she was simply protecting the company’s lead. The mission statement: turn Vibrante’s Valentine’s Day launch, which Nikki personally announced in the Abbotts’ own home, into a full-blown “Valentine’s Day massacre.” Cupid may want to update his will.
Meanwhile, Nikki spent her day blissfully buried in logo designs out at the ranch. She adores a lone “V” standing in for Vibrante and has ruled that the whole thing goes in ALL CAPS, because subtlety has never once been a Newman family value. Victor Newman marveled at how much she’d pulled together in a matter of days and declined to give a single note, citing total faith in his wife. Victor Newman. Withholding an opinion. Somebody check the ranch for pod people.
Then Nikki asked him to swear he won’t turn her company into a weapon against Jack, and her husband replied with a shrug and a lone “Yeah.” Very comforting, coming from a man who once bankrolled a plastic surgery purely to get revenge on Jack. Nikki thanked him for staying out of it anyway and rejoiced that the two of them have finally clawed their way past their troubles. Victor advised knocking on wood, and they agreed the real gift is having their son home. Given what Diane was cooking up across town, Nikki may want to knock twice. Victoria Newman swung by long enough to gush over the designs, and Nikki announced she’d sleep on the final pick. Diane, presumably, will not be sleeping at all.

Kyle and Victoria Nearly Busted
Kyle Abbott got a crash course in why nobody should ever try to sneak out of a motel in this town. Matt Clark cornered him outside and launched into a rant about the Newmans, while Victoria stood frozen behind the door, hanging on every syllable and presumably praying the hinges wouldn’t squeak. Kyle fired back that Matt ought to be grateful he’d wriggled out of his legal mess.
Matt then asked the obvious question: why was an Abbott slumming it at a dive like this? Kyle’s cover story was a work meeting, which Matt found about as convincing as a three-dollar bill. The hallway got even more crowded when Phyllis Summers strolled up, equally curious about Kyle’s field trip. He tried to deflect by declaring the pair of them were perfect for each other, and they fired back by asking whether Jabot had him going door to door with a lipstick sample case.
The real jaw-dropper, for Matt anyway, was discovering that Kyle once called Phyllis his mother-in-law. Does everybody in this town share a family tree? (Matt, sweetie, you’ll need a flowchart.) He admitted he’d happily grab popcorn and watch both families destroy each other, never guessing that the exact alliance he was rooting against was holding its breath behind that door. Kyle made his escape.
Victoria was not in the clear yet. At the ranch, Victor wanted to know where she’d vanished to, since he’d called the office and found her missing. She babbled her way through a vague rundown of her day and a report on her brother settling in at work, while her mother noted how oddly energized she looked. Then Kyle called, Victoria declared it a spam call, and she fled the living room like a teenager who’d blown curfew.
Back at the tack house, she played Kyle’s voicemail and rang him back. Does Phyllis know? Kyle didn’t think so. Victoria toyed with warning her dad that Matt was still hanging around, until Kyle gently pointed out that doing so would require explaining exactly where she’d spotted him. Oops. He was relieved their near miss hadn’t spooked her into ending things, and he’s got a plan to spice it up, complete with a brand-new rendezvous spot he refuses to reveal. Because moving a secret affair to a fresh location has always gone perfectly in Genoa City.
Matt Clark’s Irish Goodbye
Once Kyle was gone, Matt diagnosed him with “feeding an addiction.” Drugs didn’t sound right to Phyllis, so she concluded Kyle had been tailing Matt to track down Patty Williams. Two guesses, two misses. Sherlock and Watson, these two are not.
Phyllis then admitted she’d visited her son, Daniel Romalotti, and floated the idea of leaving town, which got Daniel to admit his love and ask her to stick around. Matt agreed the kid had it right and offered to vacate Phyllis’s “remarkably attractive hair” permanently. She begged him once more not to skip town with the psycho, and he vowed to “deal with Patty” after he’s escorted her far from Genoa City. Keep in mind this is Patty Williams, whose rรฉsumรฉ includes shooting Jack Abbott on two separate occasions, so “deal with” is doing a lot of optimistic work.
When Phyllis warned he could become Patty’s next victim, Matt purred that worry looks sexy on her, which, shockingly, counted as foreplay. Afterward, she asked him to handle Patty and then come home, and he showered her with compliments, predicting some stud will swoop in the minute he’s gone. Phyllis insisted that won’t happen, because nobody has ever made her feel as seen as he does. And then, because one goodbye apparently wasn’t enough, they went for a sequel.
When she woke up, the far side of the bed was cold and Matt was gone. All that remained was his cap, which Phyllis put on as she promised he hadn’t seen the last of her. Nothing says “healthy closure” like wearing your vanished lover’s hat alone in a motel room.
Nick Newman Loves His Inbox
Over at Society, Nick Newman made plans to catch up with Christian Newman later, then ran into Sharon Newman, who was waiting on a takeout order. He was practically vibrating over his return to the office and the mountain of emails he’d plowed through, calling the rush of “feeling back” an “insane high.” Reality, Sharon countered, beats any pill. Somewhere, an IT department shed a single proud tear.
Sharon told him how much she’d missed the old Nick. He apologized for letting the pills swallow him whole and blind him to everything, and she insisted none of it was on him. The blame, per Sharon, belongs to Matt. Nick wasn’t having it. He chose to walk down that dark path, and owning it comes with the territory. Sharon argued that nobody volunteers for addiction and begged him to go easy on himself.
After a return detour into the thrilling world of email, Sharon casually inquired after “that Marie woman.” Subtle as a brick, Sharon. Nick explained that Marie Kirkland moved back east so her family can help her stay sober, and Sharon wished her well. Nick asked about her life, and Sharon served up the family headlines: Mariah Copeland has returned to the office, and Faith Newman went on a date but seems way more smitten with business ethics. That’s a Newman heiress for you. Nick offered to touch base with Noah Newman, and Sharon beamed about his strong start. His plan for staying steady? Recruiting Jack as his sponsor. Diane is going to love having a Newman on speed dial smack in the middle of her lipstick war.
Later, Victor and Nikki phoned Nick to hear about his big day. He loved every minute, they told him how proud they are, and he thanked them. Nikki then assured her husband that life is officially normal again, which in Genoa City is the equivalent of a horror-movie character yelling “I’ll be right back.”

Love, War, and Lipstick
One woman spent the day designing a logo while another spent it designing a massacre. A secret couple survived the most crowded motel hallway in Genoa City and immediately started scouting a new hideout. A redhead woke up with nothing but a cap and a lot of feelings. And a recovering Newman found bliss in unread emails and picked an Abbott to keep him on the straight and narrow. Friday really said “have a nice weekend” and then set everything on fire.
