Mr. Always True Has Never Been Tested
Finn is the most loudly loyal husband in Los Angeles, and he’s said so to anyone who will stand still long enough. Always true, always faithful. He turned down a research project so he could spend more time with his wife and kids. He’s still beating himself up for the bad call that sent her flying home from Monaco alone. The man practically has his vows embroidered on his scrubs.
So what does his wife do when he heads off to his medical conference? Steffy Forrester tells him to go, have a few drinks and enjoy himself, then begs him never to question her devotion. That isn’t a sweet send-off. It’s a permission slip with a bow on it.
Steffy is carrying Carter Walton‘s baby, and every time her husband calls her loyal, she looks like she swallowed a bee. A woman drowning in that much guilt doesn’t want a saint across the breakfast table. She wants company. Deep down, a husband who stumbles is a husband who can never throw the first stone.

Steffy’s Slip Started With A Drink Too
Nobody plans a scandal. Steffy didn’t fly home from Monaco planning to wind up in bed with her best friend’s husband. She was hurt, she’d yanked off her wedding ring, and Daphne Rose had walked out on Carter. Two wounded people, too many drinks, zero brakes. That’s how every catastrophe in this town gets its start, and the doctor has no idea he’s walking into the exact same setup.
Now look at the doctor’s frame of mind heading into that hotel. Taylor Hayes keeps telling him something is wrong with Steffy. Ridge Forrester told him words aren’t enough anymore and he’d better fix it. He’s been blaming himself for weeks for a problem he can’t even name. Put that man in a hotel bar, miles from home, with his wife’s blessing to loosen up, and a sympathetic stranger doesn’t have to work very hard.
A Guilty Man Stops Asking Questions
Here’s the truly deranged part. The doctor was the one person standing between Steffy and Carter’s surrogacy scheme. He told her other women could carry that baby. He asked whether something had happened to make her even consider it. Those are the questions of a husband with a clear conscience.
Give him a secret of his own, though, and watch those questions dry up. A guilty husband comes home soft, eager to please and desperate to make amends. What better peace offering than finally blessing the surrogacy he fought against? He wouldn’t double-check a single date or ask a single follow-up. He’d be too busy feeling grateful that his wife still looks at him the same way. Carter couldn’t have scripted it better if he’d booked the hotel himself.
And when this all blows up, and on this show it always does, Finn loses the moral high ground he’s been standing on since the day he married her. The “perfect marriage built on honesty” Daphne keeps bragging about turns into two liars sharing one bed and one very awkward week of promised pillow talk.
