ANITA DUPREE IS ROOTING FOR NICOLE AND TED, SERIOUSLY

TL;DR: Beyond the Gates fans never expected Anita Dupree, of all people, to become the head cheerleader for Nicole and Ted. Ted is engaged to Shanice and house-hunting in Fairmont Crest, Nicole has Kial, and yet Anita looked her daughter in the eye and told her to listen to her heart. The BTG spoilers have Nicole insisting she’s not holding back. Here’s the twist: Anita might be right.

Anita Picked the Wrong Week to Get Sentimental

Anita Dupree did not come to bring a hotdish. She dropped by to check on Nicole Dupree Richardson about Ted Richardson’s upcoming wedding, and then she casually mentioned that he is looking at houses right here in Fairmont Crest. Nicole’s face fell before she could catch it.

Then Anita Dupree went for the jugular. What happens if Nicole loses Kial Rollins and has to watch Ted and Shanice Johnson stroll around the neighborhood? Listen to your heart, she said.

Nicole snapped back that she doesn’t want Ted. She called it mourning the death of a dream. Nobody mourns a dream they’re actually over. You mourn the things you still want.

Of All People, Anita?

This is not on anybody’s bingo card. Anita is a Dupree to her bones. She protects her family first, asks questions later and does not forgive easily. If any mother were going to keep a list of everything Ted did wrong, it would be her.

Instead, Anita Dupree is the one nudging her daughter toward the man who broke her heart. Either Anita knows something about Nicole that Nicole won’t admit, or Anita sees Kial as a placeholder. Neither option is great news for Kial. The man is a doctor with a solid reputation, and Nicole recently handed him a key to her place. Now his girlfriend’s own mother is treating him like a rental.

Here’s the part that stings. Ted told Anita and Vernon himself that the Fairmont Crest house hunt is off the table if Nicole doesn’t like it. Anita delivered the address search and skipped the courtesy.

What Ted Did Was Bad, but It Was Ages Ago

Let’s not pretend Ted is a saint. He had an affair with Leslie Thomas, and Eva Thomas is the result, confirmed by DNA. That’s a betrayal that would wreck most marriages, and nobody blames Nicole for walking.

But Eva is a grown woman. That affair happened a lifetime ago. Ted and Nicole built a family and a life long after it. Couldn’t these two have tried counseling before tossing the whole thing?

Plenty of couples on this show have survived worse with a lot less love between them. Nicole and Ted had decades of history, grown kids, and a home together. That’s a lot to walk away from over a mistake that old.

Nicole once told Ted she would always love him, but it wasn’t enough. Is it possible she gave up a little too fast?

The Turtleneck Factor

Here’s a hot take fans keep whispering. If this were the original Ted, the smooth, turtleneck-wearing version Maurice Johnson played, Nicole might have caved months ago. That man could talk his way back into anyone’s good graces, and he knew exactly how to work a cozy knit.

The current Ted is steadier and more sincere, and he swears he won’t repeat past mistakes. He also proposed to someone else. Is Nicole really over him, or is she mourning a man who’s about to say “I do” to Shanice?

Is Anita right about Nicole and Ted, or should she sit this one out? Drop your take in the comments!

Anita Has a Point, and Everybody Hates It

Ted is engaged. Nicole has Kial. Shanice is finally getting her happy ending, and on paper, Anita should stay out of it.

But Anita didn’t build a dynasty by staying out of things, and she clearly sees something in her daughter’s face that Nicole won’t say out loud. Anita Dupree may be the only person in Fairmont Crest brave enough to say what fans have been thinking.
