A Ghost Came Back to Pull Deanna’s Strings Against Her Own Mother

This one sent a chill straight down our spines. The apparition of Deanna McBride‘s late father, Doug McBride, reappeared to her at Uptown, and this time he came with an agenda that curdled our blood.

After Deanna spied her mother, Vanessa McBride, kissing Joey Armstrong, Doug’s ghost materialized and gently steered his grieving daughter toward a quietly devastating plan. Rather than openly fight the romance, he coached her to “support” Vanessa so that her mother would lean on Deanna instead of Joey. He told her she’d been playing the wrong game.

Deanna, desperate not to let her father down, agreed, then walked back inside and pasted on a smile, telling her mom and Joey she wouldn’t stand in their way. Kat’s Heart Gave Out the Moment She Should Have Been Safe

Just when we let ourselves exhale, Beyond the Gates yanked the rug out. Kat Richardson had made it through the grueling liver transplant surgery, the family finally breathing again after days of terror, when her body betrayed her.

Her heart rate spiked, alarms blared, and the medical team came rushing in as Kat crashed right there in her hospital bed. After everything she’d sacrificed to save the half-sister she can barely stand, the cruel timing of it left us gutted.

Ted Richardson was thrown straight back into the nightmare of possibly losing the daughter who’d just put her own life on the line. Colby Muhammad has carried this entire transplant saga on her back, and that crash was the gut-punch that proved survival was never guaranteed.

Tomas Pulled Out a Ring Nobody Saw Coming

Leave it to Beyond the Gates to drop a proposal bombshell while everyone was still in crisis mode. Tomas Navarro sat down with Chelsea Hamilton at Orphey Gene’s, opened a ring box, and announced he intends to ask Kat to marry him.

Chelsea’s stomach dropped, and so did ours. She gently pushed back, worried that a man rattled by nearly losing Kat in that hospital bed was leaping for all the wrong reasons, and that a surprise proposal would pressure a still-recovering Kat into something she isn’t ready for. When she called for backup, though, Madison Alsobrook and Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne mostly shrugged, figuring there’s no talking a man out of a ring once he’s bought it.

Tomas, meanwhile, went looking for blessings, hitting up the guys at the club before approaching Ted Richardson for his daughter’s hand. Ted, ever the cautious father, asked the question we were all thinking: is Tomas doing this out of love, or out of fear of losing her? The ring is out of the box now, and Kat has no idea what’s coming.
