Thursday: The Campaign Starts to Crack

The week ahead on Beyond the Gates puts the Dupree family on a countdown, and Congressman Martin Richardson is first in the blast zone. The Beyond the Gates spoilers for the week ahead say it plainly: on Thursday, October 1, Martin’s re-election is in jeopardy. The show hasn’t said why, but Martin already told us his biggest fear.

On September 24, he confided in Ted that he fears his husband, Smitty Smith, is being framed in Lia’s death, and that his own political career could go down with him. The evidence is footage of Max handing Smitty a purple pouch, a twin of the one found in Lia’s cell. Smitty swears it’s doctored and says The Impaler set him up. No charges have been filed. In an election year, a rumor can hurt as much as a conviction.

Monday, Smitty fears Jacob is dodging him. Thursday, Jacob’s evidence is met with familial resistance. Somebody’s family is closing ranks, and my money says it gets ugly at home before it gets ugly at the polls.

Friday: Vernon Goes on High Alert

Friday, October 2, Vernon Dupree gets intel that puts him on high alert. On the very same episode, Bill Hamilton comes clean to Elon Hawthorne, Jacob’s father and a senior officer. A preview for the week shows Elon making a rare trip to Vernon and Anita’s house with four words nobody wants to hear from a cop: “We got a situation!”

Anita Dupree‘s homecoming party lands Friday too, so the whole family will be under one roof when the walls close in. Anita even warns Bill: “You destroyed your family once. Don’t do it again.”

Here’s the history that makes this so dangerous. Years ago, Martin Richardson beat a man to death with a crowbar during a racist roadside attack on him and Vernon. When Martin confessed it to Smitty in July 2025, he revealed that Vernon called Malone that night, and Malone showed up with a Hawthorne in tow, a role the show credited to Malachi Malik, the actor who plays Elon. So when Elon says there’s a situation, he may not be delivering news. He may be sharing a problem.

Bill knows that secret too. He, Joey and Vernon were in on the cover-up when Marcel executed Kenny, the surviving attacker, in July 2025. We broke down how Bill’s secrets could destroy him before Hayley goes down, and Friday’s confession just raised the stakes for everyone who shared that secret.

Is Hayley Lawson Tied to the Dupree Family Trouble on Beyond the Gates?

Not as far as anything on the schedule shows. Hayley Lawson has a packed week of her own: another trick that sideswipes Bill on Monday, a brawl with Chelsea, and a face-off with Caroline on Thursday. None of that touches Martin’s campaign or Elon’s visit. Fan chatter putting her behind it all is a guess, if a juicy one.

Still, don’t write her off. From Bill’s hospital room on September 25, she told him, “That’s not how this ends.” A con artist who shared his bed for more than a year had plenty of time to learn what he’s hiding. Reading between the lines, Bill may run to Elon to confess before she can sell him out.

Joey’s Wrath Has a Different Target

The chatter says Hayley faces the wrath of Joey Armstrong. The show hasn’t scheduled that. What it has given us is a fuse. On the day Hayley made bail, her cousin Randy Parker handed her three stacks of Joey’s money and planned to put it back before his boss noticed. Joey notices everything.

Joey has bigger fires right now. Nicole is livid with him Wednesday, and by Friday his sister Heather Armstrong is sitting in the catbird seat while he plots to protect Vanessa McBride. My gut tells me Randy is first in line when Joey finds that hole in his cash, and Hayley is the collateral.

What It All Means for the Duprees
