Dani Dupree Is the Only One Fighting for Kat Richardson on Beyond the Gates

BTG’S KAT RICHARDSON ISN’T GETTING LOVE FROM HER FAMILY, BUT AUNTIE DANI DUPREE TO THE RESCUE

TL;DR: For the love of everything in Fairmont Crest, can someone besides Dani Dupree show up for Kat Richardson? Her parents are supposedly smart doctors, but they’re failing miserably at basic emotional support on Beyond the Gates.

Kat’s VIP List Is Looking Real Short

Fan-favorite Kat Richardson desperately needs some love, and the only person stepping up to the plate is her aunt, Dani Dupree. When Dani is leading the charge to be there for her niece while Kit Kat’s own parents are MIA, something is seriously wrong on Beyond the Gates.

Let’s talk about Kat Richardson’s VIP list, shall we? The only people on it are her Auntie Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) and Dani’s ex-husband slash Kat’s ongoing uncle, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). That’s it. That’s the whole list.

What about her parents, Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnée Duplaix) and Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson)? Well, Kat’s parents are apparently living proof that just because someone is a doctor doesn’t mean they’re actually smart about the things that matter. Nicole is a World Renowned Psychologist, supposedly intelligent, and yet she can’t seem to show up for her own daughter when it counts.

Speaking of Kat’s parents, their firstborn Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) isn’t much better. No, he’s not one of her parents, but he’s a damn adult and should know how to treat people by now! His main mentor is everyone’s favorite granddad, Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis). Martin has been elected to public office. He’s a husband and a father. So where exactly did he pick up treating his sister like absolute garbage while simultaneously treating his new half-sister, Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle), with way too much grace?

Auntie Dani: The MVP We Needed

God bless Dani Dupree on Beyond the Gates. Finally, FINALLY, someone who not only has time for Kat but also seriously listens and provides actual emotional support. Dani isn’t just nodding along and offering empty platitudes. She’s IN it with her niece, ready to throw hands if necessary.

Dani swears to everything that if Tomas Navarro (Alex Alegria) even NEXT to hurts Kit Kat again, she will take care of it. And let’s be very clear here: she ain’t lying. Auntie Dani has that energy that says she’s not above catching a case for her niece, and honestly? We respect it.

Let’s review the Tomas situation for anyone just tuning in. Tomas slept with Kat’s new half-sister, Eva. Tomas and Kat were still dating at the time. Eva had been pining after Tomas full-time like it was her actual job. On top of ALL of that, Tomas was defending Eva constantly, before AND after sleeping with her, watching Eva go on and on about how happy she made him on her couch. A couch that most likely hasn’t been cleaned since her mother, Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant), lived there. So… EWWW!!!

The Hayley Question Shuts It Down

Auntie Dani is absolutely the ONLY one who understands Kat Richardson right now. However, she did try to get into Nicole’s lane briefly to defend Eva, and Kat straight up asked Dani a question that stopped her in her tracks: Would she ever forgive Hayley Hamilton (Marquita Goings)?

Well, even for Beyond the Gates fans who are just getting started with this show, we absolutely know the answer to that question. Hayley literally tried to murder Dani’s ex-husband, so forgiveness isn’t exactly on the table. Point made, Kit Kat. Point made.

The Richardson and Dupree families need to get it together and rally around Kat the way Dani has. This girl deserves better than parents who are emotionally checked out and a brother who treats her half-sister better than he treats her. Until then, we’ll be over here cheering for Team Dani.
