Kat Richardson Refuses to Trust Eva Thomas on Wednesday’s Beyond the Gates

KAT RICHARDSON AND TED RICHARDSON ARGUE ABOUT EVA THOMAS ON BEYOND THE GATES
TL;DR: Kat Richardson and Ted Richardson go head-to-head over Eva Thomas on Beyond the Gates Wednesday, while Naomi hides secrets, Vanessa propositions Kail, and Jacob clashes with Marcel and Elon.
Father and Daughter at War
Family drama hits different when it’s about the other woman’s daughter. On Wednesday’s episode of Beyond the Gates, Kat Richardson finds herself in a heated argument with her father Ted over none other than Eva Thomas. Yes, that Eva Thomas. Leslie’s daughter. The one who’s been slowly infiltrating Fairmont Crest society like she belongs there.
Kat Richardson has never been shy about her feelings regarding Eva. She’s already torn into Samantha for defending Eva, and she’s made it crystal clear that she doesn’t trust anyone with the last name Thomas. Can you blame her? Leslie Thomas tried to kill people. Twice. The apple doesn’t fall far from the scheming tree, and Kat knows it.
But here’s where things get complicated. Ted has been getting closer to Leslie lately, even suggesting they could become friends. He told Eva she could start calling him “dad,” which is either incredibly sweet or incredibly naive depending on how you look at it. Ted sees the Leslie he knew decades ago when he looks at Eva. Kat sees a potential threat wrapped in a pretty package.

The Richardson Family Tension Continues
What makes this argument so juicy is the underlying tension that’s been building for months. Ted and Nicole’s marriage fell apart, and now Ted’s been spending time with Shanice. He even kissed her on New Year’s Eve, which definitely raised some eyebrows. Kat has watched her family splinter, and now her father is defending the daughter of the woman who’s caused nothing but chaos in Fairmont Crest.
Kat Richardson isn’t wrong to be suspicious. Eva has been worming her way into various situations, from the free clinic project with Leslie to pursuing Izaiah specifically because it won’t make Kat mad. That’s right, Eva literally chose a romantic interest based on not angering Kat. If that doesn’t scream calculated, what does?
Ted, bless his heart, wants to see the best in people. He’s the kind of man who believes in second chances and fresh starts. But Kat has been around Fairmont Crest long enough to know that some people don’t deserve second chances. They deserve side-eye and a wide berth. Eva Thomas might be perfectly lovely, or she might be a mini-Leslie in the making. Kat’s not willing to take that risk with her family.
Chaos Across Fairmont Crest
The Richardson drama isn’t the only thing popping off on Wednesday. Naomi is hiding her “new normal” from her entire family, which sounds ominous as all get out. What exactly is Naomi’s new normal? Is it related to Hayley’s scheming? Is she in trouble? The Hawthornes have enough problems without Naomi adding secret-keeping to the mix.
Meanwhile, Vanessa propositions Kail. Yes, Dr. Kail Rollins, the handsome orthopedic surgeon who was supposed to be Nicole’s blind date at Winterfest. Vanessa has been on quite the journey lately, going public with Joey at the country club and generally living her best messy life. Now she’s apparently making moves on the good doctor, which should make for some interesting complications down the line.
Jacob also clashes with Marcel and Elon on Wednesday, because apparently everyone in Fairmont Crest woke up and chose violence. Marcel has been playing both sides since he arrived, cozying up to Leslie while also working security for the Duprees. Elon has his own agenda going on. Jacob getting into it with both of them suggests whatever undercover work he’s been doing is about to heat up significantly.
And in the most random spoiler of the day, Smitty and Martin are surprised by Tyrell’s latest stance on a family tradition. Smitty and Martin content is always welcome, and Tyrell taking a stand on anything is character development we love to see.
Kat versus Eva is the rivalry I didn’t know I needed! Whose side are you on in this Richardson family feud?
