BTG’s Naomi Hawthorne Has the Perfect Excuse to Never Have Kids and She’s Too Dumb to Use It
Naomi Hawthorne is hiding the cancer gene on BTG but she’s missing the obvious — this is her perfect excuse to never have kids with Jacob.

Is This Attorney Even Book Smart?
Naomi Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit) is supposed to be an attorney, right? That’s at least what Beyond the Gates fans have been told, yet we’ve never actually seen her in a courtroom. Also, she becomes more dumbed down by the day and, frankly, kind of bitchy.
Her husband Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) could not be more fabulous, yet Naomi continues to disrespect him while confiding almost exclusively in her friend Nurse Ashley Morgan (Jen Jacobs). Seriously, these two women with their heads together are one hot mess.
Here’s what’s wild: Both Naomi and Ashley know that Naomi’s step-monster Hayley Hamilton (Marquita Goings) not only faked a pregnancy but also faked a miscarriage. And yet no one else knows! Naomi didn’t even tell her dad Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). Wouldn’t that be THE WAY to get rid of Fayley-Hayley for good?

The Silver Lining She Can’t See
Beyond the Gates fans know Naomi Hawthorne has tested positive for the cancer gene passed to her from her Grandmother Anita via her mother Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley). The only people who know are Naomi and her boring, horny BFF Ashley at Garland Memorial.
Naomi and Jacob’s pregnancy scare scared them into therapy, and they seem to be making at least small strides in their relationship. Well, they’d best keep up on their appointments because the Hawthornes are about to take at least two strides back. Naomi has led everyone to believe — except for Nurse Ashley — that she isn’t carrying the cancer gene.
If only Naomi were some kind of smart, she would see the silver lining in carrying that gene: NO KIDS.
Earth to Naomi: This Is Your Ticket Out
Jacob wants kids. Naomi doesn’t. So why is she still carrying around this secret like it’s a burden?
This cancer gene is the ticket to taking having children COMPLETELY off the table with Jacob. She needs to tell her husband ASAP. What is this woman doing?
Carrying the gene is one thing, and having children is another. Not only has Naomi duped her entire family into believing she doesn’t carry the gene, but she’s duped her husband as well. Whenever Naomi decides — together with her numb-skull nurse friend — to finally come clean, people are going to be hurt. It isn’t going to be pretty.
However, her fabulous husband, whom she doesn’t deserve, will support her 110%. Jacob will not want to contribute to passing on the cancer gene to another person. Ergo, not-so-smart Naomi is actually out of the woods here. Having children would be officially off the table, AND she’d have information to be proactive about cancer developing.
It’s a win-win. If only she could see it.
