BONNIE LOCKHART PLAGIARIZED HER WAY INTO A CORPORATE WAR

TL;DR: Bonnie Lockhart copied Stephanie Johnson’s novel and somehow nobody caught it until the lawsuits started flying, and now Titan needs the settlement money to survive, DiMera is scrambling to contain the damage, Johnny’s career is in freefall, and Justin had to be the one to tell his own wife she is a plagiarist on Days of Our Lives. And that is a conversation nobody recovers from at the dinner table.

The Book That Should Have Never Been Published

Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis wrote a book called “One Rainy Afternoon”. Stephanie Johnson already wrote a book called “One Stormy Night”. If you are reading those two titles and thinking they sound suspiciously similar, congratulations, you have more editorial instinct than every single person who handled this manuscript before it went to print.

Because here is the thing that makes this entire mess so spectacularly avoidable. Arianna Horton noticed the similarities while reading the manuscript during her DiMera internship. A young woman doing entry level work flagged what an entire publishing pipeline missed. She was not imagining things. Nobody was imagining things except the people who signed off on publication.

Johnny DiMera greenlit this book without ever reading Stephanie’s novel. He saw a manuscript, saw dollar signs, and pushed it through because he wanted DiMera Publishing to have a hit before Theo Carver comes back to reclaim the CEO chair. That kind of ambition without due diligence is how empires collapse on Days of Our Lives.

Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis just handed Titan a lawsuit and DiMera a crisis and we want to hear your wildest theories about where this is heading! Send your hottest takes to [email protected] and we just might publish them!

Justin Had to Be the One to Say It

The most brutal part of this entire storyline is not the corporate fallout. It is Justin Kiriakis sitting across from his wife with two books, showing her nearly identical passages, and watching her refuse to admit what’s obvious. Justin told Bonnie the degree of similarity was high. He told her this opens DiMera Publishing up to litigation. He wanted her to return the advance, apologize for unintentional plagiarism, and pull the book.

Bonnie told him if he pulled that book it would be No Nookie November no matter what month it is. She told him her book launch was the next day and she was going to be there. She said if he did not believe in her talent maybe he should not be there either. Then she ran out in tears.

This is a marriage being tested by honesty. Justin is not attacking Bonnie. He is trying to protect her. And Bonnie is so desperate for this win that she cannot hear the difference.

The Corporate Chess Match Nobody Asked For

Meanwhile the grown ups at Titan and DiMera are already calculating how to weaponize Bonnie’s mess. Kate Roberts escalated the plagiarism issue to Titan’s legal department without consulting Maggie Kiriakis or Philip. Philip saw an opportunity because if DiMera pays damages from the lawsuit, Titan can make its next payment and keep the Kiriakis estate from going under. Maggie put her foot down and refused to sue Bonnie personally because she will not sue someone living under her roof.

Johnny stormed into Titan and accused the entire Kiriakis family of setting him up. He pointed out that Xander left him alone with the manuscript and Kate swooped in to push publication. Johnny believes this was a coordinated hit designed to destroy his career and damage DiMera. Maggie denied it. Johnny did not believe her and walked out.

Now EJ DiMera is in the mix. He is furious. He is talking parody defense and First Amendment strategy. He told Johnny that by the time he is finished, Kate will be begging for mercy. Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis started this mess with a manuscript and a dream, but the fallout now involves two corporate empires, a family lawsuit, a marriage on the brink, and a young CEO whose career may not survive the week.

Where This Goes From Here

Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis is standing at the center of a storm she created and she still does not believe she did anything wrong. That is what makes this storyline so painfully watchable.

The question is not whether Bonnie plagiarized Stephanie’s book. That answer is already obvious. The question is whether this breaks Justin’s patience for good, whether Philip can keep Titan alive long enough to collect.

Do you think Bonnie’s plagiarism mess is going to end her marriage to Justin or will they survive this? Is Johnny right that the Kiriakis family set him up? Drop your take below because Salem’s publishing war is just getting started!

WATCH THIS: We love this feral child!

@soapoperamag I really like this new Rachel! All the children who have taken on this role have been adorable and she fits right in. I can't wait to see what the future brings and to see just how deep that DiMera blood runs inside this child. #DAYS #DOOL #DaysofOurLives ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
