DAYS OF OUR LIVES CASTING NEWS BRINGS GH AND Y&R ALUM BRYTNI SARPY TO SALEM

TL;DR: Days of Our Lives has welcomed General Hospital and Young and the Restless alum Brytni Sarpy to the cast, and the show is keeping her character under total lock and key.

Days of Our Lives Confirms a New Face in Salem

Brytni Sarpy has a new daytime home. DAYS’ official Instagram account made it official on August 24, sharing a photo of Sarpy posing outside dressing room number 26 with her name already taped to the door. The caption read simply that Salem had a new arrival and welcomed her to the family, with a “stay tuned” attached and nothing else.

That’s the entire announcement. No character name, no storyline hint, no premiere date. Costar Sean Dominic dropped a string of fire emojis in the comments, and the reaction from the fanbase was instant. DAYS, though, is playing this one completely close to the vest. Given the show’s production schedule, that silence could last quite a while before viewers actually see Sarpy on air.

A Port Charles Original

Sarpy’s daytime career started in Port Charles. She won the contract role of Valerie Spencer on General Hospital, debuting on March 20, 2015, as the daughter of Pat Spencer and niece of Luke and Bobbie Spencer, making her cousin to Lulu Spencer. Before landing Valerie, Sarpy had actually auditioned for two other GH roles first, Taylor DuBois and Jordan Ashford, but was ruled out of each for being either too old or too young for the part. Valerie moved to recurring status in December 2016, and Sarpy made her final GH appearance in March 2019.

A Genoa City Doctor Next

From there, Sarpy headed straight to Genoa City without missing a beat. She was cast as Elena Dawson on Young and the Restless, debuting in the role in 2019 as a love interest for Devon Winters before Elena went on to earn her medical license and build a career of her own. Sarpy’s run as Elena wrapped with her last Y&R airdate in November 2024, closing out a five-year chapter in Genoa City.

A Screen Test Salem Never Forgot

There’s history here that makes this casting feel especially fitting. Sarpy has said in past interviews that she actually auditioned for DAYS before either of her other soap roles came together, going far enough in the process to do a full screen test. GH ultimately won her first, but the door to Salem was apparently never fully closed. More than a decade later, it’s finally opened.

Before the Soaps

Sarpy’s rรฉsumรฉ outside of daytime adds another layer to the timing. She’s held a recurring role on Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” since 2025. Long before any of her soap work began, she spent years bartending and training clients at Equinox while auditioning around Los Angeles, exactly the kind of grind that makes a decade-plus daytime run feel earned rather than lucky.

Salem’s Bigger Shuffle

This isn’t the only shake-up happening in Salem lately, either. Sarpy’s hiring comes right on the heels of Sydney Malakeh’s announced arrival for September, and General Hospital alum Sofia Mattsson has already been quietly taping in a mystery role of her own since late March. On the flip side, DAYS has also recently let go of several cast members. Salem’s incoming and outgoing lists are both getting a serious shuffle right now, and none of it is being explained in one place.

Now she’s trading both Port Charles and Genoa City for Salem. Given how far in advance DAYS tapes relative to air, fans could be waiting well into next year before Sarpy’s actual character even shows up onscreen.

A Three-Network Wildcard Has Landed in Salem

A GH-to-Y&R-to-DAYS run is a rare rรฉsumรฉ, and it’s exactly why an unnamed role already feels like real news. That range alone puts her in rare company among daytime players who’ve crossed all three networks. Valerie Spencer and Elena Dawson both carried real weight in their own towns, and Sarpy walks into Salem with a built-in fanbase already speculating about who she could become there.
