CLYDE WESTON HAS SURVIVED PRISON ESCAPES AND A BULLET TO THE CHEST AND DAYS OF OUR LIVES SAYS WE NEVER SAY NEVER

TL;DR: Clyde Weston has been Salem’s most relentless villain since 2014. He ran drugs, murdered Abigail DiMera, burned the Horton house, and went down in a coma when Cat Greene’s mother shot him before he could reveal the truth about Abigail’s remains. Actor James Read has exited Days of Our Lives, but the show’s own spokespeople say they never say never in daytime. Salem has reason to be afraid.

Who Clyde Weston Is

Clyde Weston arrived in Salem in June 2014 claiming he wanted to reconcile with his estranged children, Ben Weston and Jordan Ridgeway. Both had fled his abuse years earlier and changed their names. What he actually wanted was a foothold in Salem, and he got one fast.

Within months of arriving, Clyde had inserted himself into EJ DiMera‘s drug operation, gotten one of his henchmen to shoot and kill EJ over a territory dispute, covered up the murder, and framed a random junkie for the crime. He used JJ Deveraux as a drug dealer without JJ’s knowledge. He blackmailed Jordan. He manipulated Ben. He switched the paternity results on Abigail’s pregnancy to show Ben was the father instead of Chad DiMera.

That was year one.

A Decade of Damage

What followed was ten years of Salem trying to permanently remove Clyde Weston from the canvas and failing every single time. He went to prison. He escaped with Orpheus and Xander Kiriakis and terrorized the town, kidnapping Kayla Brady in the process. He went back to prison. He burned down the Horton house when Chad DiMera’s investigative reporting started threatening his drug operation. He forced Stefan DiMera to shoot Harris Michaels. He held Tripp Johnson and Wendy Shin hostage to coerce a prison break. He ran drugs through the Bistro by threatening Ava Vitali’s son.

And then he murdered Abigail DiMera in cold blood.

Clyde Weston did not do these things as a cartoon villain twirling a mustache. He did them as a man who understood leverage and used it methodically against everyone around him. Every time Salem thought it had finally cornered him, he found another exit. His rap sheet is not a list of crimes. It is a decade-long demonstration that he operates without consequence.

How He Went Down

In December 2024, Clyde Weston was operating under the alias George Hazzard when Cat Greene, Chad DiMera, Gabi DiMera, and JJ Deveraux closed in on him. Cat’s mother Catherina, who had her own very personal reasons to want Clyde stopped, appeared and shot him in the chest before he could reveal the truth about Abigail’s remains.

He slipped into a coma. Whether he actually knew where Abigail’s remains were or was simply using the information as one final act of psychological leverage against Chad is a question Salem has been living with ever since.

James Read officially exited the show on December 12, 2024. But Days of Our Lives spokespeople have been careful not to close the door, noting that they never say never in daytime.

The Danger If He Returns

Cat Greene is the most immediately vulnerable person on the canvas if Clyde wakes up. Her mother pulled the trigger. Cat herself was instrumental in running the ISA operation that brought Clyde down. Clyde has never once let a score go unsettled and he has a very specific score to settle with this particular family.

Beyond Cat, Chad DiMera still does not have the full truth about Abigail. JJ Deveraux was part of the team that cornered him. And Clyde waking up from a coma with a grudge and nothing left to lose is the kind of storyline Days of Our Lives has always known how to write. A coma is not a conclusion in Salem. It is a delay.

Clyde Weston has survived everything Salem has thrown at him for over a decade. Do you think he wakes up from that coma this summer and who do you think is in the most danger if he does? Sound off below!
