Sydney DiMera, who got her job through Dante, said he had never mentioned knowing Dominic and saw no big deal. Marlena Evans and Belle could not call it a coincidence that Dominic’s old roommate went on to meet Sami Brady and propose.

Now look at the two men on paper, because this is where fans start squinting. Dante is Italian born, educated at a boarding school, and walked away from the Vitali family business to build his own financial empire. Dominic is the reclusive Italian billionaire who runs a hedge fund and paid cash for the Kiriakis mansion. Two Italian money men from the same school, and only one of them has ever shown his face.

The Clues That Fit, and the One That Never Aired

The chess set is real. On September 18, Belle told Marlena about the house at the end of Stefano’s clue trail, with the matching chess set, the cigars and the Wagner, and said it was like Stefano was in the room. That same day Marlena noticed that Marino means of the sea, and so does DiMera. Dante, meanwhile, made his debut hosting a high stakes poker table in Monte Carlo, which is a very Stefano way to say hello.

The portrait is not real, at least not yet. Plenty of chatter puts a Stefano portrait in Dominic’s house, but no such painting has been on screen. What aired is the opposite: Victor’s portrait is gone from the emptied Kiriakis mansion, and one fan guess has Stefano going up over that fireplace. That is a guess, and a delicious one, but it is not a clue. Belle’s growing fear for Sami, which she took straight to Chad, is built on the roommate and nothing more.

Not on anything that has aired. As of September 24, 2026, Dante Vitali and Dominic Marino are two men who once shared a room at boarding school, and no published episode guide says otherwise. Here is what nobody else has laid out. Of the four clues fans keep citing, three are on screen and the fourth, the portrait, has never aired, and the strongest aired clue is the one that splits them in two.

Think about it. A roommate is, by definition, a second person. For Dante to be Dominic, the story Belle heard on that phone call has to be a plant, and the show has not shown us who would plant it. So one of two things dies. Either two boys really shared that room, or somebody in Salem built a fake past, and there is plenty of Salem speculation on both sides.

If Dante turns out to be Dominic, the man Sami said yes to would be Stefano’s son.

Sit with that. Sami’s fiance would be the brother of EJ DiMera, the father of her children, and the uncle of Sydney and Johnny DiMera. If I know these writers, they would find that irresistible. The mother’s line is another matter, and we are leaving it blank until the show fills it in.

My gut tells me the same man prediction dies the day Dominic Marino walks on screen with a face of his own. Don’t be surprised if that face arrives before Sami does, because she is off screen until 2027. Until then, Dante is the most interesting suspect in Salem, not a man with a second name.
