DAYS OF OUR LIVES SPOILERS: THE PREVIEWS SAY SOPHIA CHOI RECOGNIZES KRISTEN DIMERA JUST FINE

TL;DR: On Days of Our Lives, Kristen DiMera finds Sophia Choi alive at a Kentucky diner on Friday, October 9, 2026. The amnesia chatter has no reliable source behind it: the preview has Sophia recognizing Kristen, and Rachel Boyd says her character kept herself hidden for six months.

The Amnesia Chatter Has Nothing Reliable Behind It

The Sophia Choi amnesia rumor is everywhere this week, and the latest Days of Our Lives spoilers do not back it up. In the preview for Friday, October 9, 2026, Kristen DiMera walks into Kay’s Diner in Paducah, Kentucky and gets a waitress with new hair, a Southern accent and the name Amelia. Kristen peeks over her menu and asks whether she should call her Sophia instead. The woman Salem mourned in May is alive, and the chatter asked whether she remembers who she is.

Nobody reliable says she has amnesia. It started as one write-up’s guess after the promo dropped, and it grew legs because memory loss would explain why a girl who survived the Salem River never came home. The newest preview coverage leans the other way. In the diner scene, Sophia acts like she recognizes the woman in her section, and she is not happy about it.

Then there is the actress. Rachel Boyd told the soap press on Thursday that Sophia “kept herself alive and hidden for six months,” and that she wanted her to come back “stronger than ever.” Hidden is a choice. A woman with no memory does not hide, she drifts. Boyd also says Sophia is “intrigued by her more than she is scared or vengeful” when Kristen turns up, not how anyone describes a girl staring at a stranger.

Salem Grieved While Sophia Waited Tables in Kentucky

Our daily recaps have the trail. On May 1, Kristen made Sophia toss her shoes into the water and leave her fingerprints on the railing, then struck her with a rock and had two men throw her into the Salem River. Divers found her blood and her belongings, the search was called off, there was a memorial, and the town decided Sophia Choi had taken her own life. Holly Jonas has carried the guilt all summer. Tate Black told her only last week that Sophia is gone, and that same day Holly called after a stranger on a bench, sure it was her.

That silence is the part the amnesia crowd leans on hardest. If Sophia knew who she was, why has she not been seen reaching out to a soul since May? Nobody has shown us her side yet, and Friday is the first time we see what she has been doing. The one loose thread is the anonymous text Holly got in September asking if she was having fun, sender never revealed. Some of the fan chatter has already decided Sophia sent it, and some has decided a woman hiding in Kentucky could not have.

Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd), the young woman Salem believes took her own life, who turns up alive and waiting tables in Kentucky in Days of Our Lives spoilers for October 9, 2026

Does Sophia Choi Have Amnesia on Days of Our Lives?

No reliable spoiler says she does, and the strongest hints say she does not. In Friday’s preview, Sophia Choi acts like she recognizes the woman who tried to kill her, and Rachel Boyd describes a character who kept herself hidden for six months and comes back “much more independent and a fighter.” Amnesia would also be the lazy way out of a story the show has spent five months building. The writers did not keep her alive off screen so she could forget why she left.

Nobody can say yet what Kristen wants with her. Kristen finds Sophia the same week Brady Black watched their daughter Rachel Black cry for her mom and then go into surgery for her appendix back in Salem. Kristen has every reason to want Sophia quiet. Sophia has every reason to want Kristen in handcuffs. Complicated does not begin to cover it.

Friday Gives Sophia Her First Real Scene Since the River

Here is my prediction, and it is only that. Sophia Choi remembers everything, and the name Amelia was never about forgetting. It was about surviving a DiMera who thought she had finished the job. Don’t be surprised if Friday ends with Sophia holding more cards than Kristen, or if the first person she reaches for is not Holly or Tate at all. Boyd says this Sophia “isn’t going to be primarily driven by revenge on Holly or getting Tate to love her,” and reading between the lines, that leaves a DiMera at the top of her list.

Nothing in the spoilers says how she got out of the water or who helped her, and the actress is not saying. Friday at 6 a.m. will do.

Our Money Says Amelia Is a Hiding Place, Not a Memory Gap

Our take: the amnesia talk is a fan fix for a plot hole the show has not even opened. Everything the previews and the actress have given us points to a woman who knew exactly where she was and chose to stay there. A Sophia who hid for six months has a reason, and reasons are what this show runs on.

Team Memory says she remembers every second at the river and Friday is a reckoning. Team Blank Slate says the rock did more damage than Kristen knows. We are Team Memory. Come fight about it on our Facebook page.
