Gwen Rizczech and EJ DiMera had a deal. Fifty percent each. Equal partners in a resurrection operation that had ultra-wealthy clients lining up through secure channels offering ten figures to bring their loved ones back from the dead. Gwen delivered Dimitri’s money to fund phase one. She took the risk. She kept the secret.

Then EJ told her the arrangement had changed.

He informed her, as her attorney, that she had no legal recourse. He told her he was carrying a disproportionate share of the risk and therefore deserved a disproportionate share of the reward. He told her to take whatever he was offering or risk getting nothing at all. EJ DiMera looked his business partner in the eye and picked her pocket with a briefcase in his hand and a straight face.

Gwen said nothing. She smiled. She left.

This week, Gwen gives Leo the scoop he has been waiting for. The summer preview showed Leo asking Dimitri Von Leuschner a very specific question. If Dimitri will not make a deal with Rafe, will he make one with Leo?

Dimitri has every reason to want EJ destroyed. It was Dimitri’s money that funded phase one of the resurrection operation. EJ used that money, cut out the woman Dimitri supplied it through, and is now sitting on a billion-dollar enterprise built on someone else’s investment. Rafe Hernandez and Dimitri are apparently not in a deal-making mood this summer. But Leo, armed with everything Gwen knows, walking up to Dimitri with an offer on the table? That is not a loose end. That is a coordinated strike.

EJ DiMera stood under Stefano’s portrait this summer and declared himself the heir to the empire. He has a billion-dollar scheme running, a political profile, and Cat Greene getting closer by the day while quietly reporting back to the ISA. The walls have been closing since spring. Gwen’s knife opens them up entirely.
