TL;DR: On Days of Our Lives, Gabi DiMera turned down EJ DiMera’s settlement offer in Horton Town Square and walked away knowing she has the upper hand when it comes to proving the signature on the divorce agreement allegedly signed by her husband, Stefan, was not his signature after all. Which means she IS entitled to a full DiMera share. Then she saw Xander Kiriakis and Kristen DiMera being very affectionate with each other. EJ’s own sister. The man his family at the helm of Titan. And Gabi is the only one who saw them.

Why EJ’s Offer Told Gabi Everything She Needed to Know

To understand what Gabi DiMera is actually holding right now, you have to start with the divorce papers. Stefan DiMera was Gabi’s husband. Stefan was Stefano’s son. And the signature on their divorce papers, according to Gabi’s own expert, is not Stefan’s. It belongs to Vivian Alamain, who signed on Stefan’s behalf without his knowledge or consent.

If that holds up, Stefan never wanted to divorce Gabi. And as Stefan’s surviving spouse, the daughter-in-law of Stefano DiMera himself, Gabi DiMera has a legitimate claim to a full and equal share of DiMera Enterprises.

EJ DiMera has his own expert who claims the signature is valid. But then he offered Gabi money. Right there in Horton Town Square. He offers a buyout when he knows the ruling is going to go against him and he wants to contain the damage before it becomes permanent. Gabi saw it immediately. She turned the money down and walked away knowing she holds the stronger hand. And EJ, whatever his expert says publicly, already knows it.

And Then She Turned the Corner

Walking away from EJ with the upper hand should have been the best moment of Gabi’s week. Instead, she turned a corner in the square and froze.

Xander Kiriakis and Kristen DiMera, being very affectionate with each other, were right there in public. Loving up on each other as if they’d just come from bed or were on their way to the nearest one.

This changes everything. Kristen has been working Xander since early May, recruiting him at the Salem Inn with a proposal that mixed financial incentive with something considerably more dangerous. Their arrangement has been building in private while Gwen Rizczech – who has her own entanglement with Xander – has had no idea. That may change very soon. Spoilers for this week show Gwen banging on a hotel room door, insisting she knows Xander is inside, with Kristen right there with him. When that door opens, Gwen will be reeling. As will Sarah Horton, who will find out too. The secret is unraveling across the entire canvas, and Gabi DiMera got there first.

And what she does with it matters enormously.

The Impossible Position

Here is the bind. Gabi DiMera already offered DiMera money to Xander to help stabilize the Kiriakis family finances. He intrigued by what he sees as an easy way out. Philip, however, refused the same money from his former live-in lover. Xander insists they need that money. Philip said he’ll resign if Xander accepted it. Xander begged him to give him some time and stay put for now. He agreed.

Perhap Xander should spend more time at the office and less time in bed?

EJ is Gabi’s brother-in-law. Who’s actively against her. Kristen can’t stand EJ. Now Gabi has witnessed Xander being intimate with EJ’s own sister, a woman who has been actively working against her brother. If Gabi tells EJ what she saw, she hands him a reason to look very carefully at every move Kristen and Xander have made together.

If she stays quiet, she is sitting on the knowledge that Kristen DiMera is sleeping with a man who is eager to accept DiMera money, who has a complicated relationship with everyone in this story, and who is operating completely outside EJ’s awareness. Kristen has moved against EJ before. She can’t wait to do it again. She has recruited allies and run interference on his business. EJ has survived every one of those moves by knowing more than his enemies expect him to know.

And the question that lingers over all of it: what will Salem’s finest think when they realize Xander and Kristen are the latest couple sizzling in the sheets? Salem isn’t going to be ready for what’s coming.
