The Setup That Killed Two Birds With One Match

Sophia Choi tied Johnny up. She turned on the gas. She left a candle burning next to a cup of acetone. Then she walked out of the apartment and waited for the explosion she had been hired by Kristen DiMera to deliver. The plan was to murder Johnny DiMera in his own apartment and walk out clean. What Sophia did not plan for is the woman who walked in next.

Chanel DuPree rushed home. She was supposed to stay at the hospital. Sarah Horton had ordered more tests on the lump in her breast and ordered her to stay for an ultrasound. Instead Chanel rushed to an apartment full of fumes as Johnny was tied to a chair and shouting at her to get out and blow out the candle in the same breath.

Then the room ignited.

Both actors were fired after the Christmas break. Fans have known for months. The lump in the breast on Monday was the goodbye storyline for Chanel, and a tied up husband next to a candle and a cup of acetone is the goodbye storyline for Johnny. The writers gave them a single explosion and turned it into two body bags, in addition to their unborn child.

Trey at the Shedd Aquarium Is the Cleanest Receipt in Soap History

The receipts have been there for weeks. Trey, the baby Sophia spent her entire pregnancy plotting to keep, was conveniently in Chicago at the Shedd Aquarium with Lani Price for the day. There is exactly one reason a soap sends an infant out of town, and in this case, it’s because the parents of that infant are about to die in a fire.

Sarah told Kayla she had a very bad feeling about Chanel before the explosion ever happened. That line is a forecast. The doctor sees the future clearer than anyone in Salem, and the future is a funeral. She just didn’t know it would happen this soon.

Salem Is Bleeding DiMeras and Bradys at the Same Time

EJ DiMera loses his son the same week his marriage is hemorrhaging from every direction. Marlena Evans loses her grandson. The DiMera family is bleeding members faster than the Brady house can absorb them and the Friday spoilers have already given us the kicker. Kristen gets revenge. Brady and Jada search for Sophia. Javi realizes Johnny is in trouble. Kristen pulled the trigger. Sophia delivered it.

Then there is Paulina Price. Paulina lost a sister to TR Coates and a niece to that same monster before she ever got back the daughter who survived him. Now she loses a different daughter to a teenage girl. Paulina carried Chanel through cancer once before. The writers refused to let her win the same fight twice.

The Lani Price Custody Plot Is Already Sitting on the Page

The truly savage piece is Lani Price. Lani was at the aquarium with Trey because the writers needed Trey alive and Lani was the only character with a direct biological line to Chanel. Trey’s mother is dead. Trey’s father is dead. Trey’s grandparents on the Chanel side are reeling. Trey’s grandparents on the DiMera side are at war. Lani is half sister to Chanel through Paulina, and Lani just inherited a baby.

She raises him. There is no other ending. Abe and Paulina take turns on the weekends. Eli flies in from the FBI office. The DiMeras try to fight her for custody. EJ shows up at her door. Lani slams it.

Trey grows up calling Lani Mama and the only person in the room who actually knows what happened is the teenage girl who lit the match.

Kristen DiMera Got the Revenge She Came For

Sophia walks away from the explosion thinking she finally got revenge, but will she? Her fingerprints were found on the bottom of anti-psychotics Trey and Holly had. Brady and Jada want to talk to her. They have no idea how bad things are. She just killed her biological son’s father. And she handed Kristen the only thing Kristen wanted in the first place. The death of Johnny DiMera.

Kristen DiMera pours herself another drink in the dark and smiles. EJ broke her. She broke him back.

The Phoenix is rising anew but a different villain is in charge.
