The Week the Carver Family Becomes Real Again

Lexie Carver spent her first weeks back in Salem reminding everyone exactly what she came back for, and this week she makes it official. She persuades Abe Carver to fold into the family she has in mind. So by Wednesday, Abe, Lexie, and Theo Carver are enjoying time together as a family, which would read as a clean victory if Paulina Price were not watching it happen from the outside.

This is the emotional spine of the week, and it does not resolve cleanly on Days of Our Lives. Families are always breaking and reforming in Salem, but this particular break is happening in real time, with a woman who loves Abe choosing to step back and a woman who was legally dead choosing to step forward. Meanwhile the rest of Salem has its hands full with ultimatums, a disturbing delivery from Rolf, a first date, a love triangle in full crisis, and Gwen Rizczech with a story so good it comes with a catch.

Lexie Carver wastes no time. She persuades Abe toward the life she came back to reclaim, while Paulina leans into what she still has, turning her attention to Chanel Dupree, who needs her this week. Gabi DiMera makes Philip Kiriakis an offer that sits somewhere between an olive branch and a power move. And Cat Greene asks EJ DiMera for a favor, which is a sentence packed with subtext from a woman whose ISA cover is currently balancing on a wire.

Tuesday, June 2

Marlena Evans gives Xander Kiriakis an ultimatum, which tells us the new man conversation has been moving too slowly for Marlena’s taste. Joy Wesley opens up to Kate Roberts about what has been building in her life. Alex Kiriakis and Justin Kiriakis discuss fatherhood with the candor that usually only comes when something is already complicated. And a difficult consultation leaves Chanel shaken and facing a choice she did not expect to make this week.

Wednesday, June 3

Sarah Horton is devastated and Xander is the one who shows up for her, which is the kind of Wednesday that Xander and Sarah fans have been waiting for and everyone else will have opinions about. Abe, Lexie Carver, and Theo enjoy a family afternoon together, which is exactly the scene Lexie has been building toward since she returned. Gwen Rizczech tells Leo Stark she has the story of a lifetime, but there is a catch, and with Gwen there always is. JJ Deveraux and Javi Hernandez bond. And Dr. Rolf delivers disturbing news to EJ DiMera – perhaps concerning Lexie’s blood test? – and the word disturbing in a sentence that also includes Rolf and a private lab should concern everyone in Salem.

Thursday, June 4

Rafe Hernandez and Arianna Horton question Gabi, which means the Titan situation and the money trail are getting harder to ignore. Sarah is torn between Xander and Brady Black, the man she has been building something with since the holidays, and by Thursday those two pulls have become impossible to hold. Julie Williams and Foster have their first date, which is Salem doing exactly what it does best when it remembers that not every story needs to be a scheme. And Roman Brady and Kate reconnect.

Friday, June 5

EJ asks Theo to step in as Johnny DiMera‘s second-in-command, which is either protection or a setup. Cat insists to Rafe that she can handle EJ, which is either excellent operational intelligence or the kind of dangerous overconfidence that gets ISA agents burned, and Salem is not in the business of rewarding the difference. Abe leans on Marlena for support as the week’s emotional weight lands. And Johnny urges Chanel to reconsider her choice, which tells us that whatever Chanel decided about her treatment is not the answer the people who love her were hoping to hear.
