DAYS SHOCKER! Marlena Evans Fights for Justice As She Reveals She Doesn’t Believe Jeremy is Stephanie’s Kidnapper
Marlena Evans forces Kayla to rethink Jeremy’s guilt on Days of Our Lives as Owen Kent returns to Salem after 16 years.

MARLENA FORCES KAYLA TO QUESTION EVERYTHING SHE THINKS SHE KNOWS ON DAYS
TL;DR: Marlena Evans tried to get through to a frantic Kayla Johnson on Friday’s Days of Our Lives, forcing her to consider that Jeremy Horton might not be behind Stephanie’s kidnapping after all. With Owen Kent returning to Salem after 16 years, Marlena’s skepticism could be the thing that saves Stephanie’s life.
Salem Railroaded the Wrong Man
Every single person in Salem has decided that Jeremy Horton kidnapped Stephanie Johnson, and on Friday’s Days of Our Lives, Marlena Evans was the lone voice saying hold on a minute. While Kayla Johnson has been spiraling into a grief-fueled rage and Steve Johnson has been scouring the streets convinced Jeremy is the villain, Marlena has been quietly watching the mob mentality unfold and something about it doesn’t sit right with her.
And thank God for that, because the entire investigation has been a disaster of confirmation bias. The circumstantial evidence against Jeremy piled up conveniently. Too conveniently. Dark websites obsessing over Stephanie and her book “One Stormy Night” were traced to Jeremy. A man in a black hoodie was spotted lurking. The handwriting analysis on the creepy letters came back inconclusive, which apparently everyone interpreted as “guilty.” Julie Williams went so far as to call Mike Horton and tell him his son was a kindnapper. Julie! The woman who defended Nick Fallon until the bitter end suddenly folded and turned into an aggressive prosecutor. The irony could choke a horse.

Marlena Evans Sees What Fear Blinds Everyone Else To
Friday’s episode finds Kayla venting to Marlena Evans about Jeremy’s despicable actions, fully expecting validation. What she gets instead is Marlena’s trademark calm honesty. Marlena admits she’s skeptical about Jeremy’s guilt – very skeptical – and spoilers say Kayla will eventually realize they may have been far too hasty to blame him.
This is vintage Marlena Evans. The woman just lost John Black, the love of her life. She’s been consumed by grief that the show’s own writers have described as all-encompassing. And yet here she is, still the steadiest hand in Salem when everyone else is falling apart. While Kayla and Steve have been fueled by pure parental terror, Marlena has been doing what she does best. Observing, analyzing, and refusing to let emotion override logic.
The tragedy here is that Kayla is one of the smartest women in Salem. She’s a doctor. She’s survived kidnapping, poisoning, deafness, and decades of DiMera chaos. But when your daughter goes missing, all that rationality flies right out the window. Kayla’s fear turned her into someone who could, and would, believe the worst about a young man based on sketchy evidence, and it took Marlena to hold up the mirror.
The Real Monster Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight
Here’s why Marlena Evans being right matters so much. Owen Kent is returning to Salem on Friday after sixteen years, and he is the real kidnapper. Owen originally worked as a gardener for the Kiriakis family while secretly spying for Stefano DiMera. When EJ ordered him to kidnap Stephanie back in 2009, Owen did it, but then something far more disturbing happened. He became obsessed with her and kept her captive on his own, locking her in his father’s mortuary in a body drawer. That obsession clearly never faded.
Owen has been stalking Stephanie from the shadows this entire time, and he’s been brilliant about framing Jeremy as the fall guy. Every piece of evidence that convinced Salem to blame Jeremy was likely planted by Owen. He probably knew about Jeremy’s troubled history with Stephanie and used it as the perfect cover. While Steve was grabbing anyone in a black hoodie and Alex Kiriakis was getting into confrontations with Jeremy, Owen was operating completely undetected.
Marlena Might Be the Key to Saving Stephanie
Spoilers say Stephanie will try to escape her restraints on Friday, and she gave it a go, freeing one arm before Jeremy walks in. She sees him and panics, thinking he’s her kidnapper, but he rushes to reassure her. Because Jeremy wasn’t there to harm her. He was there to save her! He urges her to hurry. They have no time to waste. But she grapples with her confusion for too long – just long enough for the REAL kidnapper to enter the room. “OWEN KENT!” she exclaims. And just like that, Owen has two hostages. Meanwhile, Brady Black helps Alex search for his wife, and Steve and Jada Hunter are wondering why someone in Horton Square reported she saw Jeremy there, but he was very much alone.
It’s Marlena’s conversation with Kayla that could be the turning point in convincing people an innocent man has been convicted by a jury of his peers. If Kayla stops fixating on Jeremy and starts considering other suspects, that shift in thinking could reach Steve and Jada. And once they stop chasing Jeremy, they might actually find Owen before he does something unforgivable. Next week’s spoilers confirm that Owen terrifies Stephanie and Rafe gets a major break in the case. Marlena Evans may be grieving, but she might also be the reason Stephanie eventually makes it home alive.
