TL;DR: We think Sophia Choi is alive on Days of Our Lives. The cold water woke her up the second the current grabbed her, she dragged herself out on the wrong side of the embankment, and she is in a motel room two towns over with a head wound and a grudge. The body never showed up. And Kristen DiMera is going to spend the summer waiting for a knock at the door.

The Body Never Showed Up and That’s the Whole Story

Salem is going to spend the next week mourning Sophia Choi and we are here to tell every grieving Choi to put the casseroles back in the freezer. She is alive. Sophia climbed out of that water on the wrong side of the embankment, remembering exactly who hit her over the head and dumped her like a bag of laundry. The Phoenix is rising and her name is not Stefano this time.

Kristen DiMera made one mistake. She left fingerprints. Sophia’s. And her own.

The whole point of the disposal scene was for Kristen to walk away clean. The teenage girl who knew too much was supposed to be at the bottom of the river by sundown. Brady and Jada are still hunting for Sophia per last week’s Friday spoilers. Amy Choi will get a devastating phone call. The investigation is being framed exactly the way it’s being framed because the writers want the audience to assume the worst.

But the body won’t be discovered.

Our guess is that Sophia Choi is in a motel room two towns over with a head wound and a grudge.

The Cold Water Was the Worst Possible Weapon

Here is what we think actually happened. Kristen knocked Sophia out and dumped her in the water assuming the cold and the impact would do the rest. But cold water can wake people up. The shock of the river shook Sophia awake the second the current grabbed her, and she did exactly what a teenage girl with survival instinct does. She held her breath, kicked toward the shoreline Kristen wasn’t watching, and dragged herself out. Kristen’s two henchmen left immediately and Kristen drove off thinking the job was done. Sophia lay in the mud and then she started walking.

She made it to a motel. She still had cash – soggy cash – in her pocket. And she regrouped. This isn’t a kid who wants to die. She’s out of her mind and now, she has someone new on her naughty list.

The fingerprints Kristen insisted Sophia leave are everything. The same Kristen who scrubbed the Marlena scene clean for forty years left an actual physical trail at this one. That is not carelessness. That is the writers building Sophia a return ticket. Brady and Jada are going to find Sophia’s prints. They already have her prints in the data base. But will Sophia’s prints be the only ones they find, or will Kristen’s be there as well?  

The Diabolical Part Is Sophia Waiting Until Kristen Relaxes

The diabolical part is the timing. When will Sophia come back to Salem? We think Sophia will come back the day Kristen thinks she got away with it and she’s most comfortable. By Memorial Day, our guess is that Sophia Choi is going to be the most dangerous person in Salem. She knows Kristen set her up and tried to kill her. But she lived. And she’s crazy as a loon. She has nothing left to lose. But she still loves her family. And she has every reason in the world to take everything Kristen still has and burn it to the ground. Just as she tried to do to Johnny DiMera’s life.

EJ is going to find out his sister tried to murder his son and lost. And Kristen DiMera is going to spend the rest of her summer feeling relieved, yet nervous. Because she knows Sophia didn’t kill Johnny after all. And she knows nobody dragged a body out of the river either.

This incredibly dangerous teenage girl is alive. The motel television is still on. And she’ll start plotting when her return will cause the most damage possible.
