Theo Picked the Wrong Confidant

Theo Carver has been drowning. He knows his mother is alive. He knows EJ DiMera is keeping her in the DiMera tunnels. He knows he was manipulated into stepping down as CEO because EJ told him Lexie would be devastated to wake up and find her son running the family business she hated. He has been carrying all of this alone,unable to do anything except sit with the knowledge that his dead mother is breathing in a basement.

So he went to Marlena Evans. Under the guise of patient confidentiality. Believing that whatever he said in that office would stay in that office. And he told her everything.

His mother is in a state between life and death. EJ is certain she will wake up. EJ told him Lexie would be horrified to discover Theo was president of DiMera. And Marlena, Salem’s most celebrated psychiatrist, the woman who has talked people off ledges and out of possessions, heard all of this and responded with the most dangerous advice she has ever given.

She told him to keep a journal.

Marlena Handed EJ’s Secret a Paper Trail

Let us talk about why this is catastrophic. Theo Carver is carrying a secret that could destroy EJ, reshape the Carver family, and upend every power dynamic in Salem. He went to a therapist specifically because he believed what he said would be protected. And instead of helping him process this in the room, Marlena told him to write it down.

A journal. In a house. In Salem. Really?!

Marlena meant well. She always means well. Journaling is a legitimate therapeutic tool. But this is not a situation where therapeutic best practices apply. This is a situation where a young man is sitting on a resurrection secret involving DiMera tunnels and a comatose woman and a brother who manipulated him out of a CEO position, and Marlena just told him to create a physical document about it.

And here is the part that should terrify every viewer. Marlena also caught the manipulation immediately. When Theo told her EJ said Lexie would be devastated to find him running DiMera, Marlena’s response cut straight to the bone: “So his son could become CEO?” She sees exactly what EJ did.

Abe Is Going to Find That Journal

This is not speculation. This is how soap operas work. You do not introduce a journal containing the biggest secret in Salem and leave it sitting safely in a drawer. That journal is a ticking bomb and Abe Carver is going to find it.

When Abe opens that journal and reads in his son’s handwriting that Lexie Carver is alive and EJ has been hiding her, the fallout is going to be unlike anything Salem has seen in years.

He will not just be angry at EJ. He will be devastated. The betrayal, even though Theo was manipulated into it, is going to cut deeper than anything EJ could have done alone.

EJ Played Everyone and a Journal Is Going to Undo All of It

Think about how perfectly EJ constructed this. He showed Theo his mother. He let the emotion of that moment do the work. Then he told Theo that Lexie would be horrified to see him at DiMera, which conveniently cleared the path for Johnny to take the CEO chair. He swore Theo to secrecy. He isolated him from Abe. He turned a son’s love for his mother into a weapon.

And it worked. Theo Carver stepped down. He kept quiet. And the one time he tried to find relief by talking to a professional, that professional told him to create the exact piece of evidence that will bring the whole thing crashing down.

The fuse is lit. Theo will start a journal. And Salem is not ready for what happens when Abe opens it.
