This Week in Salem, He Cannot Stop

Leo Stark is online this week, deep in the profile of Javi Hernandez’s new boyfriend. A man who works alongside Javi at the firehouse. A man Javi has known for a while. A man Javi describes as someone who makes him genuinely and completely happy.

Leo has no business being there. He knows it. The whole canvas knows it. And yet here we are, watching him scroll through a stranger’s photos and trying to make plans with someone who has already told him no. In the town square where all the worst conversations in Salem seem to happen.

Javi came back this week, announced he is staying, and made it perfectly clear he has no interest in rewinding what they had. He rejected the reunion pitch. He is building something new with someone who was already there when Leo was not. And the saddest part is that Leo spent weeks doing all the right things to conclude that Javi was the one, only to discover that being right about something is not the same as being right about it in time.

Let Us Talk About the Alamainia Decision

When Javi’s father needed him, Javi left Salem. He shouldered that alone. He did not issue an ultimatum. He did not ask Leo to choose between him and Dimitri Von Leuschner. He simply went home because his father was in crisis and that is what you do for the people you love.

Leo went to Alamainia with Dimitri.

That is what ended this relationship. Not Gwen’s scheming. Not Dimitri’s return from captivity. Not the marriage license that was never filed. There was a moment where Leo could have booked a flight in the direction of the man he claimed to love above all others and he did not do it. Javi found out and ended things over the phone because there was nothing left to say in person.

He has since broken things off with Dimitri and arrived at the conclusion that he should have been there for Javi. That is genuine growth. It is also roughly four months too late.

Javi Did Not Wait

Here is the part that needs to be said plainly. Javi came back to Salem with something that Leo does not have right now. A man who was already present when it counted. A man from the firehouse who has known him for a while and is making him happy in a way that requires no drama, no love triangle, and no emergency flights to central Europe to sort out someone else’s legal situation.

Javi did not spend those months pining. He spent them living.

And Then There Is the Other Problem

Leo should perhaps stop looking at that profile long enough to glance over his shoulder. Because Dimitri Von Leuschner did not come back to Salem to wish everyone well. He came back feeling jilted and he does not strike anyone watching as a man who handles rejection with grace and quiet dignity.

He ended a relationship with a man who went to considerable lengths to return to him. Dimitri is out for blood. Leo is busy scrolling through someone’s photos while that particular problem is still very much unresolved.

Javi is happy. Javi is whole. Javi is done. Is it too late for Leo Stark to fix any of this? Maybe. But the first step is probably logging off.
