Here is the thing about Xander Cook Kiriakis and Kristen DiMera. They have a history. Not a fling. Not a one-time partnership. A full decade long, repeatedly catastrophic working relationship that has nearly killed him approximately every two years.

He helped her impersonate Nicole Walker. He shot Marlena Evans on her wedding day for her. He kidnapped Holly Jonas for her. He held Ted Laurent and Kate Roberts hostage at the DiMera mansion on her orders. He worked alongside her and Wilhelm Rolf at the Nashville facility on the original resurrection program, which, in a detail that should not have to be pointed out, is the exact same program he is apparently happy to sign back onto in 2026.

The Nashville fire alone should have ended this partnership permanently. Xander spent months presumed dead. He came back to find Salem had buried him and moved on. And the very next time Kristen DiMera came knocking, he picked up the phone.

Every single one of these jobs ended with Kristen safe and Xander either in prison, presumed dead, or stripped of everyone who loved him.
