Alex? Alex Devane? Is That You?! This GH Fan Theory Has Our Jaws On The Floor!
A GH fan theory claims the Anna in that French clinic is actually her evil twin Alex — and they never found Alex’s body when she “died.”
A GENERAL HOSPITAL FAN THINKS THE “ANNA” CLAIMING FAISON KIDNAPPED HER IS ACTUALLY ALEX DEVANE AND THE EVIDENCE IS TERRIFYING
TL;DR: A General Hospital fan named Brenda E Frichtl pointed out that they never found Alex Devane’s body when she “died” in 2020 — and now we cannot stop thinking about whether the Anna in that French clinic is actually her evil twin pulling the ultimate long con.
The Theory That Has Us Losing Sleep
A General Hospital fan named Brenda E Frichtl dropped a comment that stopped us dead in our tracks: “I think it’s Alex pretending to be Anna. They never found her body when she supposedly died.”
We read that. We sat with it. And now we cannot unsee it.
For those who need a refresher: Dr. Alex Devane is Anna’s identical twin sister, and she has made impersonating Anna her entire personality. In 2017, Alex pretended to be Anna for over a month in Port Charles before anyone caught on. In 2020, she came back, knocked Anna unconscious on Halloween, dragged her into her own basement, and started handing out candy to trick-or-treaters while wearing her sister’s life like a costume.
That 2020 visit ended with Anna shooting Alex twice in the stomach on the Haunted Star. Alex pulled herself off the boat and into the water. Her body was never recovered.
Never. Recovered.

The “Anna” in France Is Acting Strange
Let us walk through what we know about the woman currently sitting in a French mental clinic claiming Cesar Faison kidnapped her.
She says she was chloroformed on Halloween, woke up handcuffed to a chair, received phlebotomy treatments from Liesl Obrecht, saw Faison himself, was visited by Peter August, escaped from a trunk when a driver pulled over for gas, and fought a French police officer. Mac and Felicia flew to France with Emma to see her, and Felicia made a very telling observation: Anna’s story sounds like “a mashup” of her previous Faison encounters.
A mashup. Like someone who studied Anna’s history but was not actually there for all of it. Like someone who needed to piece together a believable kidnapping story from secondhand knowledge.
Like Alex.
Alex Has Done This Before — Multiple Times
Brenda is not pulling this theory out of thin air. Alex Devane has a documented history of stealing her sister’s identity:
In 2017, Alex impersonated Anna for over a month. She pinned Nina Reeves to a table, bugged Valentin’s watch, and nobody — not even the people closest to Anna — realized they were dealing with the wrong twin until May.
In 2020, Alex knocked Anna out on Halloween night, taped her to a chair in her own basement, and walked around Port Charles as “Anna” for days. She drugged Valentin. She tied Anna and Valentin together in a warehouse with a bomb. She shot Hamilton Finn. She kidnapped a pregnant Maxie Jones.
This woman’s entire villain origin story is built on becoming Anna Devane. And as Brenda pointed out — when Anna shot her twice and she fell into the water, they never found a body.
What If Alex Survived and Planned This?
Here is where the theory gets truly chilling. What if Alex did not die that night on the Haunted Star? What if she recovered, disappeared, and spent years planning the ultimate takeover?
Think about it: Alex knows Anna’s history with Faison better than almost anyone. She was Faison’s lover. She is Peter August’s biological mother. She knows about Anna’s past kidnappings, her escapes, her traumas. If anyone could construct a believable “Faison kidnapped me” story, it would be Alex.
And now “Anna” is sitting in a French clinic, screaming about Faison being alive, begging Emma to tell Jason, and getting sedated by doctors who say she is experiencing paranoia and a break from reality.
What if the doctors are right — but not in the way they think? What if the woman in that clinic is not Anna having a mental break, but Alex playing the victim to perfection?
Where Is the Real Anna?
If Brenda’s theory is correct, the real Anna Devane could be anywhere. Held captive. Locked away. Or worse.
Alex told Anna in 2020 that she wanted to “take her rightful place” and become Anna Devane permanently. She said her only option was to become her sister because she was being pursued from all sides. What better way to disappear than to become the woman everyone trusts?
The Anna in France is begging her family to believe her. She is screaming that Faison is alive and someone needs to stop him. But what if that is exactly what Alex wants? What if the goal is to seem so unhinged that everyone writes her off — giving Alex free rein to slip back into Port Charles as a “recovered” Anna?
Mac, Felicia, and Emma are standing right there. And they might be comforting the wrong twin.
Do you think the Anna in France is actually Alex? Sound off in the comments — we need to hear your theories!
WATCH THIS: Is this why Anna seems so cray cray?
@soapoperamag They are making Anna look INSANE… We know she's telling the truth but these mad ramblings aren't hitting the right note with her family and friends. Will anyone believe her? Anyone who knows Anna should know she would never say these things unless they were true, right? #GeneralHospital ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
