Their 1980 “on-the-run” storyline captivated the nation, and their 1981 wedding drew approximately 30 million viewers — making it one of the most-watched events in daytime history. Luke and Laura didn’t just become a supercouple; they became THE supercouple against which all others would be measured.
Geary departed with Francis in 1983, briefly returned in 1984, then came back in 1991 as Luke’s lookalike cousin Bill Eckert. He played Bill until 1993 before resuming the role that made him a legend.
A Record-Breaking Career
Anthony Geary’s trophy case is genuinely unmatched. He holds the record for the most Daytime Emmy Awards won by any performer, earning eight wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Eight! The man wasn’t just talented — he was in a league entirely his own.
