GH BABY BOMBSHELL! Carly Spencer Is Pregnant — and She Has Two Men to Tell, Including One in a Coma

CARLY SPENCER IS PREGNANT AND CANNOT NAME THE FATHER

TL;DR: Carly Spencer has been near-collapsing at the hospital on General Hospital for weeks. The unhinged theory: Carly is pregnant. And she cannot tell anyone who the father is, because the candidates are Valentin Cassadine, the fugitive she has been hiding in her attic for five months, and Jack Brennan, the federal agent currently in a coma down the hall.

The Symptoms Have Been Loud for Weeks

Something is happening to Carly Spencer on General Hospital and the show has been telegraphing it for weeks. She has passed out in the hospital waiting room. She has held the wall to steady herself in front of Nina. She has been twitchy, exhausted, and visibly off-balance. The show does not telegraph symptoms by accident.

The unhinged theory: Carly is pregnant.

And Carly is about to find out the father could be either of two men. One of them is a fugitive hiding in her attic. One of them is currently in a coma down the hospital hallway from where she will take the test.

The Pregnancy Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight

Watch the last three weeks of Carly’s screen time. She is dizzy. She is nauseous. She is emotionally volatile in ways that are not consistent with her usual baseline. She has been getting worse, not better. The show has been planting a pregnancy.

Carly is going to be at the hospital for an unrelated reason, get a routine blood draw, and the lab tech is going to come back with a result Carly is not ready to hear. She will sit down. She will not cry. Carly does not cry over things that need solving. She will start running the math in her head. And the math has two answers.

Candidate One: Valentin Cassadine

Valentin Cassadine has been hiding in Carly’s attic since January. He has been at her house. He has been in her kitchen. He has been eavesdropping behind walls in her own home. The two of them have been alone in close quarters for five straight months while Jack was busy with the WSB. They have a history. They have chemistry. They have a thirty-year emotional connection that has been one whiskey away from boiling over since the day Carly let him through her door.

If Valentin is the father, the consequences are nuclear.

Charlotte Cassadine finds out her father had a baby with the woman who has been hiding him. Charlotte was already losing her grip on her father’s relationship with Carly. A baby cements it. A sibling rewrites the Cassadine family tree. Charlotte is going to lose her mind because the woman she has been visiting at her father’s hiding spot is now technically her stepmother-in-waiting.

Sonny Corinthos finds out his ex-wife is pregnant with the man he has been hunting for months. Sonny is not going to be reasonable. Sonny is going to threaten Valentin. Valentin is going to refuse to leave. And Carly Spencer is going to spend her pregnancy caught between the father of her oldest children and the father of her newest.

Candidate Two: Jack Brennan

Jack Brennan is in a coma. Jack has been Carly’s boyfriend, her boss when she did Brennan’s WSB errands, and the man she was building a life with before Nina’s syringe put him in a hospital bed. If Jack is the father, Carly has a baby with a man who cannot wake up to be told.

The Jack scenario is the lonelier one. Carly cannot consult Jack about the pregnancy. She cannot get a paternity test from a man in a vegetative state without explaining to the hospital why she needs one. Every decision is Carly’s alone, and Carly is not great at decisions she has to make alone.

The Jack scenario also has a ticking clock. If Cullum or Sidwell figures out Carly is pregnant with Brennan’s child, that baby becomes a hostage before it is born. Cullum is already cleaning up loose ends. A Brennan heir is the loosest end on the show.

The Pregnancy Reorganizes Every Plot on the Show

The pregnancy is not a Carly problem alone. It reorganizes every plot on the show.

Josslyn Jacks finds out from her cell at Wyndemere that her mother is pregnant and immediately starts calculating which father makes the situation more dangerous for her. The answer is both. Nina weaponizes the information because Nina has been waiting for a Carly catastrophe she can leverage. Cullum starts running paternity scenarios in his own head, because Cullum is the kind of man who would use an unborn baby as leverage if it furthers his case.

Carly is not going to know whose baby this is until the show decides to tell us. The DNA test is going to be a midseason cliffhanger. Every week Carly walks into the hospital is another week she is sitting across from one or both of the men who could be the father, with no idea which one she has to tell first.

Bring popcorn. Carly Spencer has handled mob wars, custody battles, hidden fugitives, and three husbands. She has never handled a pregnancy where the father might be in handcuffs or in a coma. Carly Spencer is about to have the worst storyline of her life.
