Consider this: Liesl Obrecht spent months around this man and never once felt that something was off. Not with his voice. Not with his eyes. Not with the way he moved through a room or responded to her. A mother who had raised Nathan, who had loved Nathan in her complicated and often catastrophic way, felt nothing wrong.

There are two explanations for that. The first is that Cassius is simply that good at becoming his brother, having studied him from a distance for years. The second is that Liesl felt nothing wrong because nothing was wrong. Because the man in front of her was, in fact, her son.

What if Maxie has been raising James alone while her husband has been thirty minutes away under a borrowed name, making himself unfindable because being findable would get everyone he loves killed?

What does Obrecht do with that when she finds out? What does Joss do, having vouched for him in that cell? What does Port Charles do with a man who either is the most loyal brother in history or the most devoted husband daytime television has ever seen?

We do not know if Cassius Faison is telling the truth. We know that the story landed perfectly. And on this show, when a story lands perfectly, it is worth asking who built it and why.
