RONNIE O’CONNELL SAYS JACK BRENNAN WILL NEVER LET HIMSELF FALL AGAIN

TL;DR: Reader Ronnie O’Connell thinks General Hospital’s Jack Brennan is happy to enjoy Nina Reeves, but too scarred by the Carly Spencer, Josslyn Jacks, Ross Cullum, Valentin Cassadine, and Drew Cain fallout to ever really fall. Could he be using her as an asset even while falling for her, and could Carly’s discovery of the romance set Port Charles on fire?

The Kiss Was a Long Time Coming

Bestie, reader Ronnie O’Connell sent in a theory that has us howling, and it starts with the moment Jack Brennanfinally kissed Nina Reeves. Nina confessed she nearly killed Drew Cain and begged Jack to cover for her. He did, reminded her he once suggested killing Drew himself, and then used the whole rescue as leverage to ask her to dinner before pulling her into a kiss.

Could Ronnie O’Connell be onto something bigger than a soap romance? We think so, and we think Jack is having the time of his life while quietly keeping score.

He Has Never Not Had an Angle With Nina

This is not new territory for these two. Jack Brennan has held real leverage over Nina since he erased the security footage of Willow Tait driving by Drew’s house the night he was shot, and Nina has since stabbed him with a paralytic-filled needle trying to shake free of him. Now he is the one holding evidence that could send Drew away for twenty years, and Nina is grateful, kissable, and still, conveniently, an asset he can point wherever he wants.

Ronnie O’Connell called it: he may genuinely enjoy Nina, but he built his whole career treating people as chess pieces, and old habits do not vanish because a woman is charming and out of options.

What Happens to Willow If Drew Blows Everything Up

The theory does not stop with Jack and Nina, because Ronnie O’Connell also worries about the fallout headed for Willow Tait. Drew has already threatened to tell Willow’s kids what kind of woman their mother is, and he has evidence tying Willow to bribery and a dead judge. If Drew decides burning Nina means burning Willow too, Jack’s new romance gets a lot more complicated overnight.

That is the part that makes this theory sting: Jack may protect Nina from Drew, but nothing says he protects Willow the same way once his own leverage is on the line.

He Has Been Burned Before, and He Knows It

Carly Spencer is exactly why Jack Brennan should be running from feelings, not toward them. He once threatened her and pulled a gun on her, and Valentin Cassadine poisoned her while aiming for Jack himself. Carly and Nina have already brawled and nearly branded each other with a candle, so this romance is not walking into calm waters, no matter how good the dinner reservation is.

Add Ross Cullum and Josslyn Jacks to the wreckage he has survived this year, and it tracks that he would rather have fun than fall. A man who has been shot at, poisoned by proxy, and burned by nearly every alliance he has made is not exactly wired for a stable happy ending, and Ronnie O’Connell knows it.

The Real Fuse Is Carly, Not Drew

Ronnie O’Connell’s sharpest point is this: Carly is not done with Jack Brennan, even without knowing about Nina yet. Carly is still furious he pulled Josslyn into WSB work, and now she is dating Valentin, the very man Jack once called dangerous for her. Nina and Carly’s history alone is combustible enough without adding a shared man to the pile. Once Carly learns her old rival kissed her old enemy, Port Charles will not have enough fire trucks.

I may be in the minority but I didn’t feel Jack actually fell for Carly and the same goes for Nina. Jack has information on both women he could use if needed and the WSB and their needs is put before anything he does. Both women have people in their orbits the WSB may want to attack at one time or another. In my opinion, Jack is just having a good time and gaining more and more intel on the residents of PC through romantic relationships. Jack’s files include Carly, Nina, Willow, Drew, and even Joss. One never knows when the information Brennan has gathered could be used to blackmail, etc. either if the WSB directed him to do so. Have always said Brennan #2 is a stinker and he proves my intuition more and more as he is involved in canvas.
