HARRISON CHASE SWORE HE’D CHOOSE FAMILY OVER MICHAEL. THE SPOILERS SAY OTHERWISE.

TL;DR: Harrison Chase promised Brook Lynn Quartermaine he would put their adoption ahead of his vendetta against Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. The spoilers say he and Brook Lynn make a plan this week. Tracy is already asking if Brook Lynn knows the truth — or just what she wants to believe.

The Promise Was Real. The Problem Is Harrison Chase Has Made Promises Before.

Harrison Chase is not a bad man. That is what makes this storyline so genuinely agonizing to watch. He became a cop because he believed in protecting people who could not protect themselves. He testified on Willow Tait’s behalf at her murder trial when it cost him his badge. He manipulated evidence not for personal gain but because he was absolutely convinced that Michael Corinthos shot a congressman twice in the back and framed an innocent woman for it — and that a man with Michael’s power and money would never be held accountable any other way.

The road to disaster on General Hospital has always been paved with exactly that kind of conviction.

Chase sat across from Brook Lynn Quartermaine and promised her that becoming parents was their priority. He said nothing would stop them from adopting a child. Brook Lynn was relieved. She wanted so badly to believe him that she let herself. And we understand it, because Alexis Davis is already rebuilding their adoption application after the demotion, and Chase knows better than anyone how fragile that process is. He has every reason to stand down.

He is not going to stand down.

Tracy Already Knows. And Tracy Does Not Keep Her Mouth Shut.

The spoilers this week drop one line that should have every Chase and Brook Lynn fan reaching for something stronger than coffee: Tracy Quartermaine looks Brook Lynn dead in the eye and asks her whether she knows what Chase has done for a fact — or whether it is just what she wants to believe.

Tracy knows that Michael was at Drew’s house the night of the shooting. She covered for him in court. She has been sitting on that information like a grenade with the pin pulled, and now she is asking Brook Lynn questions that suggest she knows Chase is still running his own play behind closed doors. Tracy does not ask questions out of idle curiosity. She asks them because she already has the answers and wants to know how much damage control she is going to need to do.

That conversation alone could unravel everything Chase built.

The “Plan” They Make This Week Is the Part That Terrifies Us.

The spoilers confirm that Chase and Brook Lynn make a plan together on Thursday, March 5. On the surface that sounds like a couple working toward their future. But read the context around it: Dante Falconeri wants to see Michael. Brennan is calling in favors. The entire Sidwell operation is moving toward a breaking point. And Chase — a demoted patrolman with compromised evidence and a superior already watching him — decides this is the week to make a plan.

Our theory is that Chase has brought Brook Lynn into whatever he is doing next. Not because she agreed with him — she never has — but because she loves him enough to stand beside him even when she thinks he is dead wrong. And if that is the case, both of them are walking toward a cliff with their eyes open, holding hands, completely convinced they can stop before the edge.

They cannot.

What Happens to the Adoption When This Blows Up?

This is the question that keeps us up at night. Alexis is rebuilding their application. Harrison Chase promised Brook Lynn a child. Brook Lynn has already been through the heartbreak of watching that dream get derailed once because of this exact obsession. If Chase burns his career to the ground for a second time chasing Michael Corinthos, the adoption does not survive it. And this time, Brook Lynn will have known it was coming and walked into it anyway.

That is not a storyline that ends with a tearful hug and a resolution. That is a storyline that ends with someone who cannot forgive themselves — and someone else who cannot forgive them either.

Is Harrison Chase a good cop who keeps crossing the wrong lines, or has he become the vigilante Brook Lynn accused him of being? Sound off below — Port Charles wants to know.

WATCH THIS: Who will save Drew from this mess?

@soapoperamag Sidwell walked into Drew's room… and GLOATED. Told him Willow shot him. Told him about the paralytic. Said his caretakers are on Sidwell's payroll. Then said "once she becomes your widow" and made him watch Willow announce her congressional career. This man is EVIL and Drew just had to lay there and take it. #GeneralHospital ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
