Jack Brennan turned up dead in the Metro Court pool, but this is a WSB chief we’re talking about, and General Hospital‘s spy agency has a body-disappearing track record. Are Drew Cain and Ava Jerome celebrating a win they haven’t actually won?
The Drink, the Drive, and a Very Dead WSB Chief
General Hospital Spoilers have been building toward this for over a week, but nobody expected it to end in a grave. On August 27, Drew Cain told Ava Jerome what he needed from her: keep Jack Brennan busy while Drew tore apart his hotel room, because “once he’s free of Brennan, he can deal with Sonny.” Ava did not want to fool a WSB agent, but by August 28 she agreed to occupy Jack for twenty minutes flat while Drew’s stolen thumb drive worked its damage. The plan hinged on proof that Brennan embezzled congressional funds, the kind of leverage that ends careers, not lives.
By August 31, Brennan had vanished from the very room Ava was supposed to be steering him away from, and Ava told Drew flatly that they needed to get out. On September 1, Danny Morgan and Charlotte Cassadine found him floating face-down in the pool, and everyone assumed the worst: Brennan was dead, a sleeping pill in his system, and half of Port Charles had seen him drinking with Ava that very night.

They Did Not Call It In, They Buried It
Drew and Ava did not call anyone in. On September 2, they drove Brennan’s body out to the nature preserve beside the Quartermaine estate and buried him in an unmarked grave, with Ava saying a few words over him before they filled the hole back in. Ava panicked that the PCPD would come looking for her since she was the last one seen with Jack, but Drew brushed it off, betting Brennan had enough enemies to keep suspicion far away from them. They barely got the dirt packed down before a dog started barking somewhere in the trees, and they bolted before anyone could see them.
That dog turned out to be Outback, Chase’s temporary foster, and he found the freshly turned dirt almost immediately. Charlotte Cassadine spotted him digging at the exact spot and hauled him off before he uncovered anything. She’s also missing the bracelet with her initial on it, last seen at the pool the night they found the body, and she’s terrified it ties her back to the mess. Drew and Ava, meanwhile, sat down with Lucas Jones at the Metro Court bar that same night to build their alibi, calling the murder a “project” and a “joint effort.” Not one person in Port Charles has confirmed Brennan is medically dead, and not one shovel of dirt changes that.
The WSB Has Buried Bodies Before, and Now Maybe a Live One
Here’s the theory: what if Jack Brennan is not actually dead, drugged into unconsciousness deep enough to fool two panicked teenagers and two amateur criminals in the dark? Sleeping pills slow a pulse and shallow breathing enough to look like nothing’s there if you’re not checking closely, and nobody here checked closely. Danny and Charlotte ran instead of calling anyone official, Drew and Ava assumed the pill finished the job and skipped straight to burial planning, and a WSB chief ended up six feet under a nature preserve without a single doctor ever laying hands on him.
And this is not the WSB’s first disappearing act, either. Nina Reeves already warned Willow Tait flat out that the agency “killed Cassius Faison and disappeared his body,” and that’s a woman who has watched the WSB operate up close and lived to talk about it. An organization built on making its own dead vanish on command produces exactly the kind of agent who could survive a sleeping pill and a shallow grave, whether he planned this or simply got lucky. Brennan is not some low-level asset, either, he is the WSB chief who assigned Josslyn Jacks her cover job at JJE and held evidence over Drew’s head with the calm of a man who has done this before.
Is This a Long Game To Take Down Drew Cain and Ava Jerome?
A shallow grave in a nature preserve is not exactly airtight. Outback already found the spot once, and a beagle with a bone to pick is not the only thing that can smell freshly turned dirt. If Jack Brennan claws his way out down there with WSB training and a serious grudge, Drew Cain and Ava Jerome did not solve their problem, they built a countdown. And soap circles have been buzzing that this storyline is building to exactly that kind of reversal.
Every move since that pool has worked squarely in Drew and Ava’s favor, right up until a dog nearly dug up the truth for free. Wilder things have happened on this show, and a WSB chief coming back from a hole in the ground is not exactly a stretch when the agency’s own history includes worse.
A Playbook Move That Is Not Finished Yet
If Jack Brennan claws his way out of that grave, Drew Cain and Ava Jerome are not covering up a death anymore, they are looking at a man who watched them bury him alive and had nothing to do but plan.
