THE JASON MORGAN RESCUE ROMANCE PIPELINE IS BACK IN BUSINESS

TL;DR: Steve Burton’s Jason Morgan returns to General Hospital this summer after months of helping Anna Devane take down Jenz Sidwell, and we pulled the receipts on his thirty-year rescue romance track record. Robin Scorpio, Courtney Matthews, Brenda Barrett, Sam McCall, Elizabeth Baldwin, and Britt Westbourne all started with Jason saving them and ended in love. Anna survived an execution attempt with Jason. Anna is also Robin’s MOTHER. The most scandalous receipt in Port Charles history is loading.

The Pattern Is Documented

Steve Burton’s Jason Morgan is heading back to the General Hospital canvas this summer, bestie, and the woman he spent months rescuing from Jenz Sidwell should be VERY worried. The pattern is documented. Every woman Jason Morgan has saved on this show has ended up in his bed, his arms, or his permanent orbit. He has spent the last several months working alongside Anna Devane to take down Sidwell and survived an execution attempt with her. Anna Devane is Robin Scorpio’s mother. Pour the chardonnay. The receipts are scandalous and we have all of them.

Got a Jason and Anna theory or a rescue romance receipt we missed? Send your wild speculation to [email protected] and we might publish it on the site!

Receipt 1: Robin Scorpio Set the Template

Robin nursed Jason through his brain injury recovery and he loved her with his whole rewired heart. She was loyal, patient, and stuck with him through HIV scares and mob threats. Jason ultimately chose Sonny Corinthos over Robin, but the protect-her-then-love-her loop was established forever. Robin is also, critically, Anna Devane’s daughter. Keep that filed.

Receipt 2: Courtney Matthews Got the Wedding Ring

Sonny’s little sister Courtney needed protection from her abusive husband AJ Quartermaine. Jason swooped in. They fell in love. They got married. Courtney died young but the rescue romance pipeline had already locked in by then.

Receipt 3: Brenda Barrett Got the Tactical Marriage

Jason literally married Brenda Barrett to protect her from the Balkan when the international mob boss put a hit on her. The marriage was supposed to be tactical and only on paper. Feelings developed anyway because that is what he does when he saves a woman.

Receipt 4: Sam McCall Became the Long Game

Sam needed Jason to claim her baby was his. He did. They fell in love. They had Danny Morgan together. They married, divorced, remarried, and rescued each other roughly four hundred times across fifteen years on canvas. Sam is the textbook case of the rescue romance pipeline working exactly as designed.

Receipt 5: Elizabeth Baldwin Carried His Son

Elizabeth Baldwin got attacked, kidnapped, stalked, and threatened more times than the writers can count. Jason was there for every single one of them. They share a son, Jake Spencer. They have a love story that has been simmering on the backburner since the Lucky Spencer years. Whenever Elizabeth is in danger, Jason shows up. Whenever Jason shows up, Elizabeth’s marriage implodes.

Receipt 6: Britt Westbourne Was the Most Heartbreaking

Jason rescued Britt Westbourne from a prison transport and they ended up stranded together for months. They fell hard and fast. The relationship ended in tragedy. Britt has since returned to Port Charles working alongside her brother Cassius Faison and their boss Jenz Sidwell, which means the rescuer and the rescued are technically on opposite sides of the current war. The romance was real and it cracked him for years.

Receipt 7: Anna Devane Survived Sidwell Beside Him

Jason Morgan and Anna Devane have spent the last several months working together to take down Jenz Sidwell, Ross Cullum, and the WSB corruption that almost got them both executed. He clobbered Sidwell to defend Lucky Spencer. He fought mercenaries beside her. They kidnapped Martin Grey together. They have been side by side in mortal danger for months on end.

Anna is currently in a relationship with Finn. Anna is also Robin Scorpio’s MOTHER, which means a Jason and Anna romance would be the most scandalous receipt Port Charles has produced in a decade. The show is not going there.

The show might be going there.

What Summer Looks Like

Jason returned to taping June 1 to mark the 16,000th episode of General Hospital. Anna is already back. The Cullum mess is collapsing around Sidwell. Two people who survive an execution attempt together always end up tangled on this show. That is the rule.

Bestie, the Jason Morgan rescue romance pipeline has not missed in three decades. And the one woman left for him to fall for now would also be the woman whose daughter once held his heart. Pour another glass. Summer on General Hospital is going to get loud.

Writers toyed at the idea of a Jason/Anna pairing once before and it was not accepted by most viewers including me. Anna/Jason are good together when it comes to helping one another as far as a crime or something to that nature is concerned, but as a romantic pairing it would be just as bad as a Britt pairing in my opinion. Hope writers don’t revisit this situation as they did with Britt, as it will fail. Why not bring someone new to canvas for Jason as characters are being added for every story line. If someone new isn’t an option, let Jason fly solo until there is a suitable character on canvas for him to be paired with.

Jason & Anna in a romance. Please no!!! Cannot see those two together at all. Bring Britt back with him. Please get rid of Cullum already. And Sidwell has to know that Cullum killed his son.
