JONATHAN BENNETT IS COMING TO GENERAL HOSPITAL THIS MAY

TL;DR: Jonathan Bennett, best known as Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, is joining General Hospital as Joe Fitzpatrick starting in May. The actor is returning to daytime after getting his start on All My Children as JR Chandler in the early 2000s. Executive Producer Frank Valentini called him a tremendous talent and a fantastic addition to the show.

A Daytime Homecoming

Jonathan Bennett is headed to Port Charles.

Deadline reported exclusively that Bennett will join General Hospital in the role of Joe Fitzpatrick, debuting in May. Executive Producer Frank Valentini confirmed the casting, praising Bennett as a tremendous talent who will be a fantastic addition to the show.

For Bennett, this is a homecoming. The actor got his start in daytime on All My Children, where he played JR Chandler from 2001 to 2002, taking over the role from Jesse McCartney as the character rapidly aged. More than two decades later, Bennett is back in the daytime world, and this time he is walking into Port Charles.

From Mean Girls to Broadway to Daytime

Most audiences know Jonathan Bennett as the heartthrob Aaron Samuels from 2004’s Mean Girls, the role that made him a household name. Since then, Bennett has built an incredibly diverse career. He is currently living out a lifelong dream starring on Broadway in Monty Python’s acclaimed musical comedy Spamalot.

Bennett has also become a Hallmark fixture, earning the affectionate title “The Gay King of Christmas” for his prolific holiday work with the network. He starred in and executive produced The Holiday Sitter, Hallmark’s first gay led romantic comedy, and has built beloved franchises including The Christmas House and Cherry Lane. He also created, hosts, and executive produces Finding Mr. Christmas, Hallmark’s first unscripted competition series.

His resume also includes National Lampoon’s Van Wilder: Freshman Year, Cheaper By the Dozen 2 alongside Steve Martin, and guest roles on Dr. Odyssey, Station 19, Law & Order: SVU, and Fantasy Island.

No details have been released yet about Joe Fitzpatrick or how the character connects to existing Port Charles residents, but with a talent like Jonathan Bennett stepping into the role, the possibilities are exciting. May cannot get here fast enough.
