General Hospital Adds Kearran Giovanni to the Cast

Port Charles has a new face in scrubs. Kearran Giovanni debuts on General Hospital as Dr. Nichols, brought in right as Anna Devane‘s world has been spiraling. This is a debut, not a comeback. Giovanni has no prior history on General Hospital, so this really is a clean start for the character on the canvas. GH hasn’t tipped its hand yet on how big Dr. Nichols’s role will grow, but with Anna in the state she’s in, the timing alone suggests she isn’t going anywhere soon.

A Familiar Face for Longtime Soap Fans

Giovanni is not new to daytime, even if Port Charles is. She spent several years on One Life to Live playing a doctor of her own, and it was there she first crossed paths with the man now running General Hospital’s writers’ room, giving this casting a nice bit of behind-the-scenes history. By the time that show wrapped, her character had built a full run of storylines and relationships that daytime fans still remember fondly. Outside of soaps, Giovanni has kept plenty busy, racking up a primetime resume that spans crime dramas and network procedurals across more than a decade, so she’s no stranger to walking onto a set and immediately holding her own.
