LULU SPENCER WAS HANDED THE EXIT AND CHOSE THE FIRING SQUAD INSTEAD

TL;DR: On General Hospital, Lulu Spencer’s teenage son Rocco Falconeri shot Ross Cullum on the pier. The man pretending to be Nathan West showed up at her door Friday and laid out a clean way to keep Rocco safe. Lulu said no. Cullum is out of the hospital, Dante is one slide-bite away from the truth, and Lulu Spencer is choosing to keep her son in Port Charles where every road leads to him. We have notes.

The Setup Lulu Spencer Refused to See

Lulu Spencer‘s teenage son Rocco Falconeri is the one who shot Ross Cullum on the pier. Jason Morgan is sitting in WSB protective custody taking the fall for it. Britt Westbourne knows. The man Lulu thinks is Nathan West knows. And as of Friday, Elizabeth Webber connected the slide-bite she treated the night of the shooting to Rocco and told Dante Falconeri the truth.

Cullum is out of the hospital. He knows the blood on the gun was not his. He knows somebody else was on that pier. The clock is ticking and every hand on it is pointing at Rocco.

“Nathan” walked into Lulu’s house Friday and laid out a plan. Send Rocco out of the country. Take him to Ireland. Stay with Kevin Collins and Ace until the heat dies down. It was a clean exit. It was a way to put a teenager who shot a federal agent thousands of miles away from the man who is going to come hunting him next.

Lulu said no.

Lulu’s Reasoning Is Not Reasoning

Lulu Spencer’s reasons for refusing to send her son out of town are these. Dante would not allow it. Charlotte is a consideration. Sending Rocco away alone would only cause more damage. She knows how to protect her own son. She does not need a lecture from a Port Charles detective about how to handle her child.

Dante would not allow it. Dante is a homicide cop who has spent the last week reconstructing the night of the shooting and will know everything before Cullum does. Dante is going to walk into Lulu’s house in the next few episodes and find out his ex-wife has been lying to him about their son shooting a federal agent. Dante is not going to be the obstacle Lulu thinks he is. Dante is going to be the second worst problem in her week.

Charlotte is a consideration. Charlotte Cassadine is a teenager with Valentin Cassadine for a father, Nina Reeves for a stepmother, and an entire Cassadine empire to fall back on. Charlotte has more support systems in Port Charles than most adults. Charlotte is not the reason Rocco has to stay.

Sending Rocco away alone would only cause more damage. The damage already happened. Rocco Falconeri shot a man on a pier. The damage is not theoretical. The damage is in protective custody covering for him.

She knows how to protect her own son. The evidence currently disagrees.

The Mother Lulu Used to Be

Here is the part that is going to sting the Spencer fans reading this. Lulu comes from a family that has run for safety more times than anyone can count. Laura Collins put Lulu and her brothers on planes, in safe houses, and across borders every time a Cassadine breathed in their direction. Laura Collins protected her children by making them disappear from Port Charles. Laura Collins would not be sitting in a living room arguing with the only man offering her child an exit.

Lulu also came back from the dead three years ago to be a mother to her son. She fought for it. She wanted it. She insisted on it. And the first time Rocco needed her to do the hard mother thing, the leaving thing, the protecting thing, she said it was not necessary yet.

It is necessary. It has been necessary since the gun went off.

The Pier Already Told the Story

Liz Webber treated a slide-bite the night of the shooting. The nurse on the desk remembered Lulu brought Rocco in claiming he cut his hand in the kitchen. Liz did not report it because it was a favor for a friend. Liz finally told Dante the truth on Friday.

That is the chain of evidence that ends with Dante Falconeri walking into Lulu’s house in the next forty eight hours of soap opera time and confronting her about lying to him. Dante is not the obstacle. Dante is the proof that Lulu has already been bad at this. The kitchen story did not hold. The nurse remembered. Liz remembered. The blood on the gun confirmed it. Lulu’s protection plan has been falling apart in real time and she is still running it.

“Nathan” Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

When “Nathan” walked out of Lulu’s house Friday night, he said “your son, your secret, I won’t do anything to change that.” The man who has been actively protecting Rocco Falconeri because he was once Lulu’s husband took his hands off the wheel and walked away.

That sentence is the loudest alarm bell on General Hospital this week. The one person who had Rocco’s back, who knew Cullum’s movements, who could buy Lulu time, told her she was on her own. He does not protect Rocco anymore. He does not run interference with Cullum anymore. He does not stop her from making the worst version of every choice she makes next.

Lulu Spencer kept her son in Port Charles for reasons that do not hold up. She kept him in Port Charles where Cullum is going to find him, Dante is going to find him, and the WSB is going to find him. She had an exit. She had a plan. She had a man at her door who was offering both. And she chose the firing squad instead.

We have notes. Boy do we have notes.
