Not Yet, Baby! GH’s Maurice Benard Made His Daughter Wait For The Kiss While He Officiated Her Wedding
Maurice Benard officiated his daughter’s wedding and shared a video edit of the ceremony, including a kiss he made the bride wait for on GH.
MAURICE BENARD OFFICIATED HIS DAUGHTER’S WEDDING AND MADE HER WAIT
TL;DR: GH star Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny Corinthos, officiated his daughter’s wedding over the weekend and posted a video edit of the ceremony on Instagram, complete with flower girls, rings and a kiss he made the bride wait for. Catch up on the build-up with our earlier coverage.

The Mob Boss Takes The Mic
Maurice Benard spends his workdays as Port Charles mob boss Sonny Corinthos, so he knows how to command a room. Marrying off his own daughter was a different kind of pressure. The actor officiated over the weekend and then shared a video edit of the day, and it is the tearjerker with a wink you were hoping for.
The clip follows the ceremony from the flower girls to the exchange of rings. Maurice walks the couple through the traditional promises, tells the guests these two have found their soulmates, then calls on the authority of the State of California to make it official.

Hold That Kiss
Then comes the moment fans will replay. The bride was clearly ready to kiss her new husband, and Maurice, never one to rush a scene, made her wait until every last line was done. Maurice Benard has staged some famously tense standoffs, and this one ended with a hug-worthy green light instead of a gunshot. Sonny would have stretched it out even longer to watch her squirm.
The post carries a proud-papa caption calling his baby girl married to her Prince Charming. He admits the speech may not have been perfect, but says it came from the heart. Judging by how Maurice Benard sounds in the clip, the groom, Anthony, got a very emotional father-in-law.
Cheers To The Newlyweds
Maurice Benard has played a lot of intense scenes, but this one came with real vows and a real audience.
