General Hospital
Nathan West Picked Lulu Spencer on the Same Day Maxie Jones Woke Up on General Hospital and We Need to Talk About This Love Triangle
Nathan West told Lulu Spencer he wanted her on General Hospital. Hours later, Maxie Jones woke up. This love triangle is about to explode.

NATHAN WEST HAS THREE WOMEN’S WORTH OF BAGGAGE AND ZERO GOOD OPTIONS ON GH
TL;DR: Nathan West finally told Lulu he wanted to be with her on Wednesday’s General Hospital. Hours later, his wife woke up from a coma in Boston. The timing could not be worse, the love triangle could not be messier, and Spinelli is standing right there holding the grocery bags. We have predictions.
The Universe Has the Worst Timing in Port Charles History
Let’s set the scene on General Hospital.
Nathan West spent weeks falling for Lulu. They bonded during the blizzard. They kissed at BenJen Café. They both sought advice from family — he went to Nina, she went to Laura — and both were told to go for it. On Wednesday, Nathan looked Lulu in the eye and said the words out loud. He wants to be with her.
Beautiful. Romantic. Brave.
And then his wife woke up.
Maxie Jones opened her eyes in that Boston hospital, walked to the door of her room, and announced to Felicia and the kids that her son would not be skating without a helmet. She’s back. She’s awake. And she has absolutely no idea that her husband spent the afternoon committing to another woman.
The soap gods are not playing fair, and we are obsessed.
Will Nathan West Go Back to Maxie Jones?
Here is the million-dollar question, and we think the answer is more complicated than anyone expects.
Nathan West has said repeatedly that he will always love Maxie. When he first came back from the dead, he said it felt like no time had passed for him. But he also watched her build an entire life without him — a life with Spinelli, with Georgie, with routines and rhythms that do not include him. He told Lulu on New Year’s Eve that Maxie made a family with Spinelli and he cannot assume she will give that up.
But that was before Maxie was awake to have a say in the matter.
Now she is conscious. Now she can speak. Now she can look Nathan West in the face and either tell him she has moved on or tell him she never stopped loving him. And if it is the latter? Every single feeling he has been building with Lulu is about to get torched.
We are predicting Nathan tries to do the honorable thing — stay with Lulu, keep his word, respect the life Maxie built. But the second he sees Maxie? The second James drags his father into that hospital room and says “Mommy’s awake”? All bets are off. Nathan West’s heart has belonged to Maxie Jones since the day he married her, and no amount of logic is going to override that reunion.

Spinelli Is Not Going Down Without a Fight
And then there is the Spinelli of it all.
Damian Spinelli has been holding that family together with both hands since Maxie fell into her coma. He has been co-parenting James with Felicia. He has been visiting Maxie every single week. He told Jason at The Brown Dog that he fears she will never wake up — and you could hear the heartbreak in every syllable.
Now she is awake. And Spinelli is not going to step aside for Nathan the way Isaiah stepped aside for Curtis.
Think about it. Spinelli has been the one reading bedtime stories. Spinelli has been the one packing lunches and showing up at school events. Spinelli has been the one keeping life normal for Georgie and James while their mother slept. He is not a placeholder boyfriend. He is the man who showed up every single day when Nathan West was dead.
We are calling it now — Spinelli is going to fight for Maxie. Quietly at first. Politely. In that very Spinelli way where he uses twelve words when three would do. But the man has steel underneath the awkwardness, and he is not about to hand over his family because a ghost walked back through the door.
Lulu Spencer Is About to Get Her Heart Broken
Here is the prediction nobody wants to hear, but we all feel coming.
Lulu Spencer is going to lose Nathan West.
Not today. Not next week. But the moment Maxie is back in Port Charles, standing in the same room as Nathan, looking at him with those eyes, holding James between them — Lulu will see it. She will see the thing Nathan does not have the courage to say yet. That his feelings for her were real, but his love for Maxie never died.
And the cruelest part? Lulu already knows. She told Nathan at the café that Maxie would kill her if she found out about their feelings. She has been carrying this guilt since the first kiss. Laura told her she deserved happiness, and she does — but we do not think that happiness lives with Nathan West.
Lulu deserves someone whose heart is not split between two zip codes. And when this all falls apart, we are going to need Dante Falconeri to be paying very close attention.
Who should Nathan West choose — Maxie or Lulu? And does Spinelli stand a chance? Sound off in the comments and share this with every GH fan who has opinions about this mess!
WATCH THIS: Maxie’s doing pretty good for someone who’s been in a six month long coma…
@soapoperamag Welcome back, Maxie! But, can we talk about how after 6 months in a come she got up, fully dressed, and walking? No struggle. No fumbling around. Just acting like she’s totally fine and nothing even happened. Weird. It’s weird. It was certainly a choice. #GeneralHospital ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
