THE ONE PERSON ACTUALLY COMFORTING HER ALREADY KNOWS THE TRUTH

Nina Reeves has become the WSB’s leading suspect in Jack Brennan’s disappearance, and on General Hospital, the woman sitting across from her at lunch already knows exactly what happened to him.

A Threat Nobody Forgot

When William Baines started digging into Jack’s disappearance, Carly handed him a name without hesitating: Nina Reeves. Baines had already implied Carly herself was involved and accused Valentin of killing Jack over the old Pikeman deal that once sent him to Steinmauer, so Carly redirected him fast. She told Baines all about the argument she’d witnessed between Jack and Nina, including Nina’s threat to “destroy” Jack if he didn’t come through with something Willow needed. Valentin jumped to Carly’s defense the moment Baines tried to pin Jack’s disappearance on her, but he couldn’t do the same for Nina.

Valentin admitted he partly blames himself for Nina’s involvement with Jack in the first place, since the Pikeman fallout is what tied the two of them together to begin with, and he knows exactly what that involvement looks like from the outside. If anything actually happened to Jack, Valentin said flatly, Nina would be the prime suspect. Nobody in that conversation seemed to notice that the same argument being used against Nina is the argument that should be pointing everyone toward the truth instead.

The Woman Who Already Knows

While Baines builds his case, Nina is sitting at the Metro Court Gardens catching up with Ava, who is running the exact same tick-bite cover story on her that she used on Dr. Gannon. Nina Reeves has no idea she’s confiding in the one person who actually knows Jack is dead, and she has even less idea that a WSB agent is watching the two of them from across the room. She told Ava she hasn’t heard from Jack since they fought over Willow, and admitted she genuinely liked him and wished they’d both handled things differently before things went quiet between them.

Ava couldn’t tell Nina the truth without exposing herself, so she settled for telling Nina that the distance was for the best. Across the restaurant, Baines watched the two women with his focus locked entirely on Nina, quietly building a case against a woman whose biggest crime so far is trusting the wrong lunch date.

Two People Already Know, And Neither Is Nina

Ava isn’t even the only one sitting on this secret. Drew also already knows Jack is dead, and instead of grieving anyone, he’s using that knowledge to threaten Willow and dig for evidence Jack supposedly had against him. That means two separate people are walking around Port Charles fully aware of what happened to Jack, on General Hospital, while a WSB agent builds a case against the one woman who genuinely doesn’t know anything at all.

Nina Reeves is currently the only major player in this triangle without the actual facts, which makes her the easiest person to frame, accidentally or otherwise. Baines doesn’t need Nina to be guilty. He needs her history with Jack to look bad enough that nobody bothers asking who else in Port Charles had a reason to want Jack gone for good.

A Week That Doesn’t Let Up

Nina Reeves spends Monday in the hot seat, calls a family meeting by Tuesday, and cracks under the pressure by Thursday, according to what’s already been teased for the week ahead. Given that she’s currently the WSB’s top suspect for a death she doesn’t even know happened, that pressure isn’t coming out of nowhere, and it’s only going to build the longer Ava and Drew both stay quiet about what they actually know.

Sound off in the comments: does Baines ever figure out Ava and Drew both know the truth, or does Nina take the fall for something she didn’t do?

The Suspect Who Should Be The Least Suspicious

Nina threatened Jack in anger, the same way anyone protecting their daughter might, and that single moment is now the whole foundation of a WSB investigation. Meanwhile the two people who actually know what happened to Jack are pouring her tea and threatening her daughter, respectively, without a hint of suspicion attached to either of them, and nobody seems inclined to look their way anytime soon.

Tell us on our Facebook page if you think Nina gets cleared before this week is out, or if Baines is about to make the biggest mistake of his entire investigation.
