KAYDEN BRENNA TOKARSKI BECOMES THE NEW SCOUT CAIN ON GH

TL;DR: General Hospital has recast Scout Cain. Kayden Brenna Tokarski takes over the role from Cosette Abinante in July, with the recast designed to age up the daughter of Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and the late Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) into her next chapter on the canvas.

Port Charles Recasts a Cain Family Member

General Hospital has officially recast Scout Cain, and a brand new face is coming to Port Charles in July. According to an exclusive report from Soap Opera Digest, Kayden Brenna Tokarski has been tapped to take over the recurring role of Scout, the daughter of Drew Cain and the late Sam McCall. She succeeds Cosette Abinante, who has played Scout since 2022.

The decision to recast the role was made in order to age up Scout, who was born on screen in February 2017. With Scout now stepping into a new chapter of life on the canvas, the show needed an actress ready to carry the emotional weight of where the storyline is headed. Tokarski is set up to do exactly that.

Tokarski takes over at one of the most charged moments in Scout’s storyline life. Her father Drew is currently in a locked-in state on the canvas, the result of what initially appeared to be a stroke but was later revealed to be a drugging at the hands of Scout’s stepmother, Willow. The Cain family canvas is sitting on a powder keg, and Scout Cain walks back onto screen in July with everything around her shifting at once.

Got hot takes about how Drew Cain is going to wake up from his locked-in state, when Willow’s drugging scheme will finally be exposed, and what the Cain family fallout looks like once the truth hits Port Charles? The 16,000th Episode Spoiler That Hid in Plain Sight

Eagle-eyed fans actually caught a first glimpse of Kayden Brenna Tokarski before her casting was officially confirmed. On June 1, the actress was spotted among the cast in a video shared across General Hospital‘s official social media accounts to celebrate the taping of the show’s 16,000th episode. Social media sleuths put the pieces together fast, and many correctly guessed who she would be playing before the announcement dropped.

Who Is Kayden Brenna Tokarski?

While the role of Scout Cain marks her daytime debut, Tokarski is far from new to a set. She has been acting professionally since the age of ten, and at sixteen she has already built a resume that most rising talents would envy. In 2022, she played a younger version of Julia Roberts’s character Martha in the political thriller Gaslit on Starz, sharing the screen with one of Hollywood’s most established leading women.

Her television and film credits continue to pile up. In 2024, she played Lauren in the Lifetime feature My Professor’s Deadly Secret opposite James Hyde, a familiar daytime face known for his runs on Passions as Sam Bennett and The Young and the Restless as Jeremy Stark. Tokarski also appeared in Lifetime’s Killer in the Woods and the sci-fi feature Roswell Delirium opposite Anthony Michael Hall. She recently wrapped production on the neo-noir thriller Quads and the Kicker and will also appear in the upcoming Curse of Vandor and its sequel, which stars Dee Wallace, a former General Hospital alum who played Pat Spencer.

Tokarski has also been making noise in the commercial world. She voiced Wednesday Addams in a national Wendy’s spot tied to the hit Netflix series, and she starred opposite Joey Fatone in a national campaign for Red Lobster. That kind of varied resume builds the exact muscle a soap opera demands. A daytime actor has to land emotional beats fast, share scenes with multiple co-stars in a single episode, and carry recognizable character recall across years of canvas history.

What This Means for the Cain Family Canvas

The casting also lands at a meaningful moment for the wider Cain family story. Drew Cain has been one of the most central pieces of the canvas for years, and with Willow Tait at the center of a deeply layered drugging storyline, every member of the Cain household is now in motion. Kayden Brenna Tokarski stepping into the role of Scout means the show is investing in keeping the Cain family front and center for the foreseeable future, with new emotional terrain ready to be explored.

Welcome to Port Charles, Kayden Brenna Tokarski. Catch her debut as Scout Cain on General Hospital in July.
