She reached into Michael’s coat pocket. She pulled out his keys. And she slid Drew’s house key right onto the ring.
Then she walked back into that office and accepted the custody terms like nothing had happened.
The final scene should be studied in villain academies for decades. Michael and Willow stood in the reception area, having just negotiated pieces of their children’s lives. Michael — completely unaware that his keychain now carries evidence that could send him to prison — acknowledged that neither of them got what they wanted, but they compromised for the kids.
And Willow Tait, with Drew’s house key freshly planted, looked that man in the face and said: “All I ever wanted was what’s best for Wiley and Amelia.”
