Brooke told Deacon that Taylor is “beautiful, intelligent, accomplished” and basically gave him a whole sales pitch about why he should choose Taylor over Sheila Carter.
Now, at first glance, this seems WILD. Brooke and Taylor have been enemies for THIRTY YEARS! They’ve fought over Ridge Forrester more times than we can count! Let’s be real about something: Ridge Forrester cannot stay committed to ONE WOMAN for longer than a season! The man waffles between Brooke and Taylor like it’s his full-time job! He marries Brooke, gets bored, goes back to Taylor. Marries Taylor, gets restless, runs back to Brooke. This has been his pattern for DECADES!
Right now, Ridge chose Brooke. They’re married and everything seems great. But Brooke has been through this cycle enough times to know what’s coming: Eventually, Ridge will get that look in his eye. Plus, let’s be honest: Brooke genuinely believes Taylor deserves better than Sheila’s leftovers. Brooke told Deacon that Taylor is accomplished and intelligent. From Taylor’s perspective, getting with Deacon is actually a GOOD move! She’s vulnerable right now after Ridge chose Brooke (AGAIN). She’s lonely, she’s been having increasingly intimate therapy sessions with Deacon, and she clearly has feelings for him!
Deacon is kind, attentive, and makes Taylor feel seen and valued. He’s not perfect—he’s married to a literal criminal—but he’s a MASSIVE upgrade from pining after Ridge for the rest of her life! Taylor has wasted DECADES waiting for Ridge to choose her permanently, and it never happens! Maybe it’s time for her to move on with someone who actually wants HER and not just the idea of her!
Plus, if Taylor gets with Deacon, she won’t be available when Ridge inevitably comes crawling back. That’s POWER! Imagine Ridge showing up at Taylor’s door with his “maybe I made a mistake” speech, and Taylor gets to say “Sorry, I’m with Deacon now”! That would be the ultimate victory!
