Eric Forrester (John McCook) has been living a double life on Bold and the Beautiful. While his family believed the patriarch was enjoying a quiet retirement, Eric was pouring his creative genius into a couture collection for Katie Logan‘s (Heather Tom) brand new fashion house, Logan. And that secret just blew up in the worst way imaginable.

Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) found the sketches on the desk at the Forrester mansion. He studied them. Actually praised them, thinking they were for Forrester Creations. Then the realization hit. These designs were for the competition. And the confrontation that followed? Brutal.

What Happens to Eric Forrester After the Confrontation?

Eric Forrester collapses during the argument with Ridge. The patriarch who built Forrester Creations from nothing accused his son of trying to take his life away. Ridge fired back. The shouting escalated. And Eric went down.

Ridge pushed Eric into retirement before the holidays. He organized a send-off celebration that Eric didn’t ask for and didn’t want. Eric saw it for exactly what it was. His own son telling him he was finished.

So when Katie offered Eric the chance to design again? He grabbed it with both hands. Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) financed the entire operation, gifted the fashion house to Katie, and locked Eric in as the lead designer. It was supposed to be Eric‘s triumphant comeback.

Instead, it nearly killed him.

Who Deserves the Blame for What Happened to Eric?

This is where it gets messy. Because plenty of people had a hand in pushing Eric Forrester to the edge, and none of them can claim clean hands.

Bill was pushing Eric to finish the collection under an impossible deadline. Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) was begging Eric to go to the hospital after watching him struggle to breathe, and Bill was still worried about his launch timeline. Classic Dollar Bill.

But then Ridge shows up and unleashes a verbal assault on his own father. A father who was already fragile. Already overworked. Already showing signs that his body couldn’t keep up.

Donna tried to intervene. Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is caught between her husband and her sister. And Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) has known about Eric‘s secret since early February and kept his mouth shut until the pressure became too much. Every single person in this story played a role in what happened.

Will the Fight Over Eric’s Designs Trigger a Legal War?

Don’t be surprised if this isn’t over just because Eric is down. Could this mean the next phase of the battle is actually about who OWNS those designs?

Eric created those sketches at the Forrester mansion. On Forrester property. Ridge could argue those designs belong to Forrester Creations. But Bill almost certainly has contract language claiming they’re work-for-hire for Logan. Given Bill‘s track record, you better believe that paperwork is airtight. The Logan name dispute was already framed with legal angles when Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) confirmed the trademark had expired. Something tells me the courtroom is next.

What’s Next for Eric Forrester and the Forrester Family?

Spoilers hint that Eric Forrester comes clean on Friday, which suggests he survives this medical crisis. But surviving physically and surviving as a family are two very different things.

If I know these writers, Ridge is about to redirect all his guilt into full-blown rage at Bill and Katie. Brooke will be torn between her husband and her sister. And the question hanging over all of it is whether Eric‘s designs ever see a runway, or whether they become the most fought-over sketches in soap opera history. This isn’t just a family fight. This is the beginning of a full-scale Forrester vs. Spencer corporate war.
