The Bold and the Beautiful
LISTEN CLOSELY! Did B&B’s Li Finnegan Hear A Heartbeat That Shouldn’t Exist Yet?
Li Finnegan heard a heartbeat she called too soon, and now Steffy Forrester’s surrogacy story has two skeptical doctors working against it.
LI FINNEGAN HEARD A HEARTBEAT THAT BREAKS STEFFY’S STORY
TL;DR: Li Finnegan glared at Steffy Forrester, ran the blood test, then pulled out a monitor on the couch and called the beat “so strong so early,” and on Bold and the Beautiful that leaves two doctors holding a blood test and a heartbeat that do not match the surrogacy story.

One Glare And One Monitor Are Doing The Heavy Lifting
Li Finnegan gave away what she thinks before she said a single word. She aimed one icy glare at Steffy Forrester, then switched on the congratulations for the room, which is exactly what a woman does when she is filing everything away for later. Finn offered a grudging congratulations of his own, and Daphne Rose glowed so brightly she missed the whole performance.
Li’s excuse for what came next was a good one. Surrogate pregnancies need more monitoring than regular ones, she explained, which is a very professional reason to pull a heartbeat monitor out of her bag, even though she admitted it should be too soon to hear anything. Carter Walton and Steffy tried to object. Daphne thought hearing the baby’s heart sounded beautiful, so the two people with the most to hide lost the argument to the one person who had no idea what she was voting on.
“We can do it right here on the couch,” Li said. Then she told the happy parents the beat was “so strong so early.” Read that line twice, because it is the whole case.

A Blood Test And A Heartbeat Walk Into A Calendar
Li has been two steps ahead since the start. When Finn told her Steffy had gone ahead with the surrogacy behind his back, she wanted to know how anyone found time to pick an egg donor, and then she learned the egg was her own daughter-in-law’s. She asked why Steffy would do such a thing, and she has not stopped asking. The blood test was awkward enough. Finn demanded it, Li drew it, and the results came back fast and said Steffy is pregnant. Nobody in that room asked the question a doctor asks next, which is how pregnant, and since when. Steffy told Finn the procedure happened while he was away at the conference. A procedure that recent should not produce a beat Li herself said was too soon to hear, and if the beat is real, the pregnancy is older than the story.
Li Finnegan went fishing with a heartbeat monitor on a hospital couch and landed a whale. Finn is the one who has to look at it. He already told his wife this was about a lot more than helping out a friend, and he already guessed it goes back to the night she left him in Monaco. A heartbeat nobody was supposed to hear gives him something much harder to explain away than a feeling.

Carter And Steffy Are Running Out Of Sentences
Their whole defense has been that this is a gift, and a gift does not explain a heartbeat. Carter keeps insisting they stick to the plan, even after Steffy told him they will be telling this lie for the rest of their lives. She sobbed through the blood test results while Daphne thanked her “sister,” and that scene only works as long as nobody counts backward.
Li Finnegan does not need a confession to start counting. She has a medical degree, a son who reads lab results for a living, and a front row seat to a pregnancy that sounds stronger than it should. Monday’s spoilers promise Finn and Steffy a heart-to-heart, and he was in the room for that heartbeat too.

Some Secrets Have A Pulse
Steffy can fudge a date, a procedure, and a thank-you speech, but she cannot fudge a heartbeat. Li Finnegan has the monitor, the medical degree, and a son who is about to have questions of his own. How long before Finn counts backward by himself, and who does he ask first when the numbers do not add up?
