TL;DR: Abby Winters told a recovering Jack her marriage is in a rough patch, then left his hospital room in tears. Devon is still hunting Mariah Copeland through the courts, and the woman he married is quietly running out of road.

A Hospital Bedside Turns Into A Confession Booth

Young and the Restless spoilers have been circling Devon and Abby for months, and the July 13 episode finally said the quiet part out loud. Abby Winters sat at Jack Abbott‘s bedside, watched the man survive a stabbing, and admitted her marriage to Devon Hamilton-Winters had hit a rough patch. Then she walked out crying. Nobody weeps in a hospital corridor over a disagreement about the thermostat.

She did not stay for the family celebration. She did not call her husband to come sit with her. She said her piece to a man who nearly died, and then she got out of the room before anyone could ask a follow up question. That is not a wife venting. That is a wife rehearsing.

Here is the part that should worry everyone in Genoa City. Devon was not there. He has not been in a room with his wife on screen since late May, and in the weeks since, the distance has stopped looking like a scheduling problem and started looking like a decision. For the latest scoop on where this is heading, our friends over at Not My First Day have been tracking every twist in the Winters marriage.

Abby Winters Is Running Out Of Patience

The rot started in April, when Devon filed a petition to have Mariah Copeland‘s plea agreement reviewed and did not bother telling his wife first. Abby found out after the fact. Days later she told him flat out that she did not know who he was anymore, and he stormed off rather than hear it.

That is the whole marriage in one exchange. Devon acts, Abby learns about it later, and the argument that follows never actually resolves. He is not a villain here. His son was taken. But grief with no brakes on it turns into something else eventually, and the woman living with it is the first to feel the impact.

Mariah, meanwhile, sits in a psychiatric facility that Devon still believes should have been a prison cell. Abby has never agreed with him on that. She wanted treatment, not vengeance, and she has spent months watching her husband pour his entire personality into a court fight he keeps losing.

Are Devon and Abby Breaking Up on Young and the Restless?

No breakup has aired yet, and no divorce has been filed. What has aired is a wife telling her injured uncle that the marriage is struggling while her husband is somewhere else entirely, and that is usually how these things start on this show.

The timing is the tell. Bryton James pre-teased this collapse in a fall interview, saying a danger to Devon’s family would put the marriage “to the test in new ways,” and here we are. Now stack that against the release currently being lined up for Mariah, who is expected out of that facility sooner rather than later.

Devon has spent months insisting she belongs behind bars. What do we think he does the morning he sees her walking down a Genoa City sidewalk in the sunshine? Abby Winters will be standing right there when it happens, and she has already told us exactly how tired she is.

Ashley Abbott Walked Back Into A House On Fire

Do not sleep on the reinforcement that just arrived. Ashley Abbott came home to Genoa City on July 10 for her brother, and mothers do not stay in their lane when their daughter is crying in hospital hallways. Devon has spent this entire storyline with no one telling him he has gone too far. Abby is about to have someone in her corner who has never been afraid to say it.

My gut tells me the writers are not building toward a reconciliation dinner. They are building toward a woman who finally stops apologizing for her husband. Could this mean Abby Winters is the one who ends it, rather than the one who gets left? Do not be surprised if the person who blows up this marriage is the one everybody assumed would hold it together.

Drop a comment below this article and settle it for us: is Devon a grieving father or a husband who has lost the plot?

This Marriage Is Cracking From The Inside

Here is my honest read. Devon is not going to cheat, and Abby is not going to run off with a stranger. This one dies the boring, brutal way, with two people in the same house who stopped telling each other things, until one of them realizes she has been alone for months and simply says so out loud.

Either Mariah’s release cracks Devon open and he finally lets his wife back in, or it finishes the job and Abby packs a bag with Dominic on her hip. I know which one I am betting on, and I know which one this show loves. Come argue with me about it on our Facebook page, because half of Genoa City thinks she is a saint and the other half thinks she quit years ago.
