Billy Jokes About Cabot Abbott or Electra Spectra Before the Wedding
So what will Billy and Sally name their baby? On Friday’s Young and the Restless, before the ceremony, Billy Abbott chatted with his ex-wife Victoria Newman and his kids, Johnny Abbott and Katie Abbott, and joked that the baby would be Cabot Abbott or Electra Spectra. The bride was upstairs getting ready and missed the gag.
Up in the suite, Katie told Sally Spectra that she makes her dad happy, and moments later the baby kicked as if to approve. Monday’s episode, which aired Friday in Canada, brings the vows, Jill’s cardiac event and Sally’s water breaking with Adam in the room. Nobody says a name.
That leaves the question wide open, and the clock is running. Keep our two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers close, because the baby won’t wait long after “I do.”

Dylan Is the Only Real Name Sally Has Said Out Loud
On Thursday, October 1, Abby Winters brought pink and blue cupcakes to their table at Society and pressed them about the baby. Billy floated Cupcake Abbott, because it works for a boy or a girl. Then Sally floated Dylan, which also works either way, and Billy liked it.
Since then, the lips are sealed. At the Abbott rehearsal dinner on October 15, Traci Abbott fished for the names they were considering, and Billy politely refused to share. That tells you there’s a list. Back in July, the two agreed they could do better than Electra, so Friday’s joke was a callback, not a clue.
Billy Abbott Has Never Picked the Name of One of His Children
Here’s the history nobody is talking about. In February 2009, Cane, then believed to be the father, named Billy’s daughter Cordelia Katherine Valentine, and Billy was furious. That little girl, Delia Abbott, died in 2013 after a hit-and-run, and Adam Newman was the driver.
In April 2012, two days after Adam delivered Johnny in a cabin, Billy pitched Mustang or Waylon and asked for a vote. Victoria told him it was too late and named the boy John, for Billy’s late father. In November 2014, she named Katie for Katherine Chancellor. Even Billy’s own name is a tribute: Jill named him William Foster Abbott after her late father, Bill.
Is Billy and Sally’s Baby a Boy or a Girl on Young and the Restless?
Nobody knows, including the parents. On October 1 they said they’re waiting until the birth to find out, and they disagree: Sally has a hunch it’s a boy, and Billy is sure it’s a girl. On October 8 she told the ladies at her bachelorette party they’re still waiting. That’s why a name like Dylan fits so neatly.
Jill’s Cardiac Event Could Put Her Name on the Baby
At Monday’s reception, Billy hopes his mother, Jill Abbott, will make it in time to see her grandchild born. Then her brother Snapper calls to say she had a cardiac event, and nobody tells Billy how bad it is. On October 8, Jill had sent Sally Katherine’s brooch with a note telling her to “be overjoyed about this baby as am I.”
Could Billy Abbott honor her with a middle name? This family has done it before. In 2009, baby Faith was given the middle name Colleen weeks after Traci’s daughter Colleen died, and the daughter Sally and Adam lost in 2023 was named Ava Hope, for Adam’s late mother. The catch: every one of those tributes honored someone who had already died, and Jill is alive. For a boy, the names Jill gave Billy, William or Foster, would carry her too.
Shirley Spectra Walked Sally Down the Aisle, and the Spectras Name for Family
On Monday, Sally’s grandmother, Shirley Spectra, makes her first trip to Genoa City in person and walks her down the aisle, shouting “Depends on the price!” Sally herself is named for her great-aunt, the original Sally Spectra, Shirley’s sister, who is still alive and living it up somewhere tropical. My gut tells me a Shirley middle name would be Sally’s thank-you.
Fans have been trading names since April, and a Jill tribute keeps coming up. Ava and Hope carry Adam, and I can’t see Billy wanting that in his nursery. Katherine and John are taken. Reading between the lines, Billy Abbott’s real list starts with Dylan and ends with a family name.

Dylan Leads the Pack, but a Jill Middle Name Would Be the Abbott Move
Billy has spent three babies watching somebody else choose. This time he gets a vote, and I’m betting on Dylan, with Jill or Shirley tucked in the middle once this baby finally shows up.
