SALLY SPECTRA’S WATER BREAKS AFTER THE VOWS, AND ADAM NEWMAN IS THE ONE IN THE ROOM, NOT BILLY

TL;DR: Sally Spectra’s water breaks at her wedding on Monday’s Young and the Restless, and Adam Newman is the one with her. She doubles over after changing, Adam follows her back upstairs, and the second pain is no false alarm. Billy is downstairs on the phone, hearing that his mother, Jill, had a cardiac event.

Sally’s Water Breaks After Adam Follows Her Back Upstairs

Sally Spectra‘s water breaks at her own wedding, and the man in the room with her isn’t her new husband. On Monday’s Young and the Restless, which aired Friday in Canada, Sally changes into her party gown and doubles over in pain. She asks her sister Coco Spectra and her best friend Audra Charles not to tell Billy Abbott, and the women head downstairs. Adam Newman overhears them, follows Sally back upstairs, and when she doubles over a second time, her water breaks with him there.

Billy doesn’t know yet. He’s in the lobby with Cane Ashby on a three-way call with his uncle Snapper, who tells them that Jill Abbott had a cardiac event. The happy part came first. Sally’s grandmother Shirley Spectra walks her down the aisle and, asked who gives this woman, yells “Depends on the price!” Then Billy and Sally are pronounced husband and wife.

Who delivers this baby, and where, hasn’t aired yet. No CBS listing for the week mentions the birth, so keep our two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers close as the wedding spills into Tuesday.

Should Adam have followed Sally up those stairs at all? Write to our editor at amber@soapoperamagazine.com and tell us where you stand.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Sally Spectra with Audra Charles and Coco Spectra

Sally Spectra Asks Coco and Audra Not to Tell Billy

Adam was never Billy’s idea of a wedding guest. On Monday, September 21, Billy banned him from the wedding, and he’s only there as the date of Billy’s ex, Chelsea Lawson. At the reception, Adam tries to congratulate the groom, and Billy takes it as a dig and won’t shake his hand. Upstairs, Coco admits it was hard not to punch him.

Then the first pain hits. Sally tells the women the baby is just kicking up a fuss and asks them to keep it from Billy. Adam hears them talking about it and follows when she slips back up alone. She thinks the knock at the door is Billy.

Adam says he wanted to congratulate her in private, since Billy has made it clear he doesn’t want him there. Then the second pain comes. Adam wants to get help, but Sally doesn’t think it’s Braxton-Hicks this time, and her water breaks. She knows the difference now. Earlier this month, her doctor called her contractions Braxton Hicks and said the baby is not coming early, and Adam wasn’t there for that scare.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Sally Spectra and Adam Newman

Does Adam Newman deliver Sally’s baby on Young and the Restless?

That hasn’t aired yet, and nothing official says he does. Fans have predicted it since the summer, and our look at whether Sally Spectra would give birth at her wedding asked the same question on Wednesday. The CBS listings for the rest of the week don’t mention a birth. One line jumps out anyway: on Thursday, October 22, “Chelsea sees a new side to Adam.”

Here’s what makes that line hard to ignore. On April 9, 2012, Adam pulled a pregnant Chelsea out of an icy pond, delivered her son in a cabin and cut the cord, and Chelsea named the boy John, for Billy’s father. That boy is Johnny Abbott, and at this reception he chats with Adam and Chelsea about his little brother’s new school. If Adam delivers this baby too, it will be the second of Billy’s children he has brought into the world.

Adam Lost a Daughter With Sally, and Billy Is on the Phone

There’s a darker history, too. In June 2023, Adam was told he had to choose to “save the baby or the mother,” and he chose Sally. Their daughter, Ava, was stillborn. Head writer Josh Griffith put Adam’s thinking into words on Tuesday, May 26: “If I can protect this child because I couldn’t protect the child that I lost, I will.” On Friday, October 2, when the baby kicked, Sally put Adam’s hand on her belly.

Jason Thompson, who plays Billy, promised a newborn “very, very quickly after saying ‘I do'” and said “there’s something pretty serious that goes down with Jill” that “throws everything into the blender.” Monday sets up both in the same hour. Earlier at the party, Billy hopes his mother can make it in time to see her grandchild born. On Tuesday, October 20, CBS says “Cane shares distressing news with Billy,” and by Wednesday, “Sally and Billy meet their first challenge as a married couple.”

My gut tells me Sally Spectra’s baby won’t wait for Billy to make it up those stairs. If I know these writers, the man Billy wouldn’t shake hands with is about to become the man he owes.

Would you want Adam in that room if you were Sally? Leave your take in the comments.

Adam Newman Is in the Room, and Billy Abbott Is on the Phone

Billy spent September trying to keep Adam away from this wedding and wouldn’t even shake his hand at the reception. Now Adam is the only one upstairs when Sally needs someone, and Billy is in the lobby hearing about his mother. Billy never gets that moment back, and I’m betting Adam doesn’t leave her side.
