No One Likes Cane Ashby & All the Guest Reasons Why
Billy Flynn as Cane Ashby or not, no one from Genoa City whom he invited to his maze that never leads to his chateau likes him. Supposedly, Cane has become a billionaire within six years. So, why would the Newmans, Abbotts, or Winters families care? They can already have whatever they want whenever they want with their family money. Cane Ashby’s money has to be dirty, & the only hope of his money getting cleaned are the ladies in his maze of champagne & caviar without prominent Genoa City last names & money. So, for the love of everything in soap opera land, what is all of this about? Let’s unpack…
Cane Ashby versus Damian in Business & with Lily
Why is Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers) even in France right now? Why did Aristotle Dumas/Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) invite him? Cane literally JUST fired Damian. Cane didn’t hire Damian in person, manage him in person, nor did he fire him in person. What could possibly be Cane’s motivation for including Damian in this very strange French extravaganza?
While Cane Ashby would like all of his guests from Genoa City to believe that he has wised up, it’s apparent he has not. Damian is already talking back to him after being employed by him for six years. Now it’s been revealed to Young & the Restless fans that Cane wants Lily back & Damian wants to start things up with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). Lily isn’t interested in ANYTHING Cane has to say, let alone even considering a relationship reboot. However, Cane did instigate a kiss, but it wasn’t the one he had planned.
The Newmans Shun Champagne & Caviar in France
Yes, Victor & Nikki Newman (Eric Braeden & Melody Thomas Scott) are sort of trapped in France, along with their son Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), but is it really that bad? Sure, the maze is annoying, but by now they have had to find their way around & where the bathrooms are, right? There is food & drinks galore, & now a pool area to relax. Despite all of this, all Victor, Nikki, & Nick want to do is to bolt back to Genoa City.
Now billionaire Cane Ashby has different plans. He has fashioned his maze of confusion in the south of France & the train cars where his guests sleep do not have any cell phone signal & now no one can leave if they wanted to because of what the recent severe weather caused.
None of these Newmans like Cane Ashby, but why not use him for whatever they can for as long as they can? Could it be that someone is finally at least a couple of steps ahead of The Almighty Victor Newman?
Phyllis Summers in Desperate Mode, Loves Cane Ashby
Obviously, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) isn’t in love with Cane, but she is in love with opportunity. In the Newman train car, Phyllis confided in her new friend Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) that she’s been unemployed for too long & needs something to happen, no matter what may or may not be Cane Ashby’s past. Because of this, Phyllis is closest to being a Cane fan, & it’s only out of desperation.
Billy Boy & That Dress Woman Fail to Launch
Billy Abbott & that dress woman, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), are hardly having any fun & are hardly hot. Billy Boy wants to stay & Sally wants to go. They have Abbott Communications to launch back home in Genoa City, supposedly. Billy Abbott has been talking about the big Abbott Communications launch since before he hired & fired Phyllis Summers. Sally wants to launch with Aristotle Dumas being revealed as Cane Ashby. Billy Boy would rather stay in France to see what his fake half-brother Cane Ashby has in store & more.
Audra Charles Fake Likes Dumas, & Kyle Abbott Again
Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) might be the busiest guest on this Dumas/France/Cane trip of all. She maneuvered an invitation to the Dumas Party via Victor Newman in order to fulfill her obligation to break up Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) & Claire Newman (Hayley Erin). Well, she’s well on her way as Kyle is being very “Kyle” on this trip. However, Kyle does want to split like the Newmans back to Genoa City, but Audra isn’t having it. Thanks to the “weather,” she & Kyle will have more time together at the maze-side pool & beyond.
Will Cane catch on at all that no one likes him, everyone hates him, & he’s just being used? He’s not getting Chancellor Industries, at least for now, but there are other things he’ll soon be putting his name on in Genoa City on Young & the Restless.
