Phyllis Summers unloads on Sharon Newman and Lauren Fenmore about her connection to Matt Clark, unaware he’s already checked into a motel to write his goodbyes. Patty Williams warns Matt from behind bars that the man he used to be is gone for good, and the episode ends with Matt on the phone with Phyllis, breaking down and telling her he needs her.

Matt Clark Finds Out What Everyone Already Knew About Him
Matt Clark heads to prison to check on Patty Williams, apparently under the impression that a woman who once tried to kill people is the right audience for a redemption pep talk. He apologizes for dropping her when things got complicated, and Patty is bored before he even finishes the sentence.
Patty is not there to hand out participation trophies. She tells Matt the man he used to be never actually left. He’s only been on a long vacation, and every rejection is going to drag him right back into the dark.
Rattled, Matt Clark checks into the Riverbank Motel and starts narrating his own villain arc out loud, wondering if evil is simply all he’s ever going to be. He writes Phyllis Summers a farewell letter, admitting forgiveness was probably too much to ask for when he can’t even forgive himself. Then he crumples it up before he can decide whether it’s a suicide note or a Hallmark card.
Falling apart, Matt Clark calls Phyllis Summers in tears and tells her he needs her. Genoa City gets a full-blown cliffhanger, and Phyllis has zero idea her night is about to get a lot more complicated.

Billy Abbott Gets a Hard No on Chancellor Industries
At the Athletic Club, Billy Abbott tells Lily Winters he’s got law and logic on his side, as if reciting a court transcript will magically make her hand over Chancellor Industries. She appreciates his commitment but refuses to fold, and Billy immediately decides this must be a grudge about Cane Ashby.
The two stomp off in opposite directions. Billy heads straight to the bar for shots, where Sally Spectra finds him mid-meltdown and reminds him they have a wedding and a baby coming. He insists Chancellor will only be a day job once it’s his, and doubles down that Jill Abbott might be plotting against him too.
Sally suddenly doubles over in pain and Billy calls for an ambulance, proving Chancellor Industries comes with a body count of its own. Cane tells Lily he’ll dig through the digitized files to find whatever else is buried.
Phyllis Summers Airs It All Out
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis Summers tells Sharon Newman she’s worried Victor Newman did something to Matt, and Sharon promptly accuses her of refusing to see through his obvious façade. Phyllis insists she cares because she’s a human being, and Sharon reminds her that friendship goes both ways.
Once Sharon steps away, Lauren Fenmore gets an earful instead. Phyllis laughingly confesses that she and Matt slept together and it was amazing.
She admits maybe she’s a little lonely, and he makes her feel seen in a way no one else does. Lauren isn’t buying it and reminds her exactly how the last “misunderstood guy” turned out.

Someone Call an Intervention
Between a farewell letter, a prison guilt trip, and a corporate meltdown with an ambulance attached, Genoa City is proving that everyone’s crisis becomes everyone else’s soap opera. Matt Clark’s spiral and Billy Abbott’s obsession both look like slow-motion trainwrecks, and neither man seems interested in hitting the brakes.
