Nick Newman Ends Up Doing CPR Instead of Getting Clean
Nick Newman is holed up at the motel by the park, still running from rehab, when a woman named Marie Kirklandends up in his bed. It is the kind of night that should feel like an escape. Instead it turns into a code blue.
Nick climbs out of bed and stumbles to the bathroom. He stares at himself in the mirror long enough to scribble Marie a note, hoping she finds her way out of this life before it is too late. When he goes back to wake her up, she is not waking up.
That is the moment Y&R stops being a bender and starts being a nightmare. Nick drops to the floor and starts chest compressions until Marie finally snaps awake, gasping.
He wants to rush her to the hospital, but she begs him not to call anyone. If paramedics show up, her husband finds out, and then everyone finds out. Nick Newman is not built to walk away from a dying woman to protect a secret, and he refuses to let this one slide.
He calls the ambulance anyway. Once the paramedics take Marie away, Nick Newman sits alone on the edge of that motel bed and finally cries, the adrenaline gone and nothing left to hide behind. He picks up the phone and calls the one person he knows will actually show up: Sharon, telling her he is in bad shape and needs her to come get him.

Nate Hastings Weighs a Return to the Operating Room
At her penthouse, Lily Winters asks Nate Hastings how serious he really is about going back to medicine. He admits helping Malcolm Winters brought his old passion roaring back, and there is a new procedure that could finally let him operate again. Lily tells him to chase it, warning that if he does not, she will fire him herself.
Later, Devon Winters drops by Nate’s place expecting to talk about himself, and instead learns Nate wants to open a college in Neil Winters‘s name. Devon is thrilled, and admits he still feels guilty for ever taking Nate’s dream of surgery away in the first place. Nate assures him the past can stay in the past while they both chase something new.
Jack Abbott and Diane Jenkins Clash Over Nikki Newman
At the Genoa City Athletic Club, Jack Abbott needles Cane Ashby over landing at Chancellor, only for Cane to reveal he handed Billy Abbott a job there too. Jack calls it a bad joke, and Cane warns he will cut Billy loose the second he steps out of line.
Across the room, Diane Jenkins learns Nick’s addiction has spiraled and that Nikki Newman asked Jack to be his sponsor. Diane calls Victor Newman a monster and Nikki a bad friend, and Jack has to talk her down before the two blow up their whole night. He reminds her that only Nick can decide to get off the road he’s on.
Meanwhile, Abby Newman tearfully confesses to Devon that she was terrified of losing him for good, and he promises he is not going anywhere. The two are still glowing over their reconciliation when Jack and Diane arrive, ready to celebrate Devon’s recovery over drinks.
