Diane Slips a Sedative Into Her Captor’s Dinner

The captive becomes the predator, and it is everything. Diane Jenkins has spent days letting Laurence Markham believe she is a broken woman melting into gratitude, and today she cashes that performance in. Fresh from a shower and laying the doting act on thick, she fusses over his kitchen and promises to cook him a meal he will never forget, which, as it turns out, is truer than he knows.

When Laurence mentions her sedatives have arrived but insists she only gets one at bedtime on his terms, Diane spots her opening. She offers to pour him a drink, eyeing the exact pocket where he stashes the pills, and pointedly sips only water herself because she has bigger plans than getting tipsy. The moment he heads down to the wine cellar to grab a bottle, she strikes, lifting the vial from his pocket and slipping it right back before he returns.

He comes back none the wiser, fussing over which vintage to open and whether they should order in, while Diane Jenkins insists tonight has to be special. She wants to impress him, she purrs, and the second she slips into the kitchen, that sweet smile curdles into pure triumph as she pulls out the pills she swiped.

Then fate hands her a gift. Laurence gets an emergency text and tells Diane he has to step out, urging her to eat without him if he runs late. “So damn close,” she mutters, watching her dinner plan teeter.

Then her eyes land on Alan’s book, the very thing that once brought Martin down, and the whole plan snaps back into focus. Markham is going down too, she vows, and she doses his food. Sleep tight, doctor.

Jack Hacks His Way Into Patty’s Phone

While Diane works her captor, Jack Abbott is running a scheme of his own back at the Abbott estate. He arrives to find a flirty note from Patty daring him to join her in the hot tub, which is exactly the distraction he needs. With her safely soaking, he grabs her purse, digs out her phone, and hacks straight in.

Jackpot. He finds Laurence Markham’s contact and fires off a text posing as Patty, summoning the doctor with an urgent emergency. Then he calls his son to say he will handle Patty personally, the trap officially set. It is the fake message that yanks Laurence out of the house at the worst possible moment for him and the best possible one for Diane Jenkins.

Kyle and Jack Plot Their Next Move at Society

Earlier at Society, Kyle Abbott gets a call from his father, who promises to explain everything when he arrives. Jack turns up and recounts his misadventure, he actually got onto Markham’s property, only to be chased off by a snarling pack of Dobermans. Kyle is certain Patty Williams tipped Markham off to stay home and lie in wait.

Both men are convinced Diane Jenkins is trapped at the estate, now juggling two psychos instead of one. Jack puts the private investigator on Markham’s place, frustrated they cannot go to the police without more proof. They puzzle over what leverage Patty could possibly hold over the doctor, and why he would risk everything for her, before Jack lands on his play: use Patty herself to smoke Markham out.

Cane Hands Billy the Keys to Chancellor

Over at Crimson Lights, Cane Ashby is working hard to talk Lily Winters into letting him hire Billy Abbott, and she is not buying it. She has been burned by Billy before and doubts he has truly changed, conceding only that Sally Spectrahas made him better. She is sure Cane is acting out of guilt and warns that handing Billy a big role is handing him the keys to his own destruction.

Cane admits he misses having family close, and after plenty of sighing, Lily caves: he can hire Billy, but one wrong step and the man is gone. When the offer comes on the patio, Cane lays the head of R&D position at Billy’s feet, and Billy is sure it is a joke. It is not. Sally urges him to sleep on it rather than make a snap decision, and Cane is happy to let him think it over.

Once the Abbotts leave, Lily tells Cane she did not expect to see this generous side of him again. He says he wants to be the man she fell in love with and prove she can trust him, and they seal it with a kiss.

Billy Bleeds His Wounds to Sally at the GCAC

Before all that, Billy vents to Sally at the GCAC bar after her nursery shopping spree, the two of them musing on what makes a good dad. Billy figures fatherhood may be the one thing he has not managed to wreck, then drops that Lily had made Cane CEO of Chancellor and admits he took the news badly.

Seeing his mother cut like a knife, he confesses, dredging up every ounce of old pain and resentment. Jill would not apologize for selling him out, though she did cop to funding Abbott Communications. Sally worries Jill could yank that support after their blowup, and Billy can only wish his mother would admit she does not put him first. When Cane’s call comes asking to meet, a baffled Billy heads out with Sally at his side.
