Y&R Spoilers: Diane Jenkins Abbott Plans Fake Divorce Announcement to Outsmart Dr. Laurence Markham
Diane Jenkins Abbott plots a fake divorce announcement to fool Dr. Laurence Markham on Y&R. Can her manipulation game set her free before Kyle Abbott breaks in?
DIANE JENKINS ABBOTT TURNS A FAKE DIVORCE INTO HER TICKET TO FREEDOM
TL;DR: On the June 23 episode of Y&R, Diane Jenkins Abbott begins therapy with her captor Dr. Laurence Markham, who pushes her to give up on Jack, while Kyle chases a lead to find her.
Diane Jenkins Abbott Plays the Long Game
Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) is trapped behind barred windows, and she has decided the only way out is through the mind of the man holding the key. On the June 23 episode of Y&R, Diane sat down for her first formal therapy session with Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), the so-called doctor keeping her prisoner. What looked like a breakdown was really the opening move in a calculated con. She has no weapons and no way to call for help, so the one tool left to her is the same one that has kept her alive for years. She can lie, and she can do it beautifully.
What Did Dr. Markham Do to Diane?
Dr. Markham steered the session straight toward the worst night of her life. He pressed Diane to relive finding Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) in bed with Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) on the yacht. Then he twisted the knife, suggesting Jack may have wanted to get caught, that the whole humiliating scene was his way of signaling he wanted out of the marriage. The doctor nudged her to skip forgiveness entirely and simply move on without her husband.
Here is the part the doctor does not understand. Markham is not acting alone, and he is not acting out of concern. Patty is paying him, and every leading question is designed to push Diane toward letting Jack go for good. Diane Jenkins Abbott has been around long enough to recognize a setup when she is sitting in one.
Why Is Diane Jenkins Abbott Announcing a Divorce on The Young and the Restless?
Do not be surprised if Diane hands Markham exactly the victory he is fishing for. The smart play is to fake a giant epiphany, to tearfully announce that she is done with Jack forever and ready to build a future without him. If she sells it well enough, Markham may believe he cracked her wide open and finally helped her see the light.
In reality, every word would be a performance staged to walk her out that door. Given her history of surviving the unsurvivable, faking her own death included, this woman knows how to play a role until the cameras stop rolling. The goal is simple. Convince Markham she has given up, earn his trust, and turn his ego into the crack in the wall.
It is easy to imagine the doctor growing fond of his star patient, maybe even developing feelings as he congratulates himself on the breakthrough. That blind spot could be exactly what Diane is counting on.

What’s Next for Diane and Patty?
The cracks in this twisted partnership are already showing. Markham might buy that Diane is truly finished with her husband, but Patty is far less likely to take the bait. Could this mean a brutal clash between captor and paymaster? Patty may decide that setting Diane free is simply too risky, no matter what the doctor believes.
This is where the danger spikes. If Patty wants Diane gone for good rather than released, her crumbling alliance with Markham could explode into open warfare. Diane Jenkins Abbott would then be caught between a doctor she has fooled and a woman who wants her erased. The very lie meant to free her could become the thing that gets her killed.
Meanwhile, help is closing in. Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is chasing a lead to find his mother, and he tracked Markham to a walled compound covered in cameras. Kyle is ready to break in alone to save Diane, and the June 26 episode promises that Jack and Kyle take a big risk with Patty. Whether that gamble brings Diane Jenkins Abbott home safely is the question burning up the canvas right now.
One thing is certain. The smartest person in that house is the one everyone thinks is broken.
