The Young and the Restless
EXCLUSIVE THURSDAY CANADIAN Y&R DAY AHEAD: A Secret Son, a Decades Old Lie, and a Name That Just Turned Lily Winters’ World Inside Out
Malcolm Winters is dying and the one person who can save him just found out he exists. Stephanie Simmons sat on this for decades on Y&R.

THE WINTERS FAMILY TREE HAS A WHOLE BRANCH NOBODY KNEW ABOUT AND LILY WINTERS IS THE LAST TO FIND OUT
TL;DR: Malcolm Winters told Lily Winters she has a brother on Thursday’s The Young and the Restless and when she asked who, the name that came out of his mouth sent her jaw through the floor. Meanwhile, Stephanie Simmons admitted she would have taken this secret to her grave if Malcolm was not dying, Holden Novak is refusing his mother’s calls, Audra Charles is eavesdropping where she does not belong, and Claire Newman is being suspiciously wonderful about the whole thing.

Lily Winters Did Not See This Coming
Lily Winters spent the first half of this episode sobbing on Traci Abbott‘s shoulder at the Abbott estate because she cannot be Malcolm Winters‘ donor. Her past cancer treatment made her non-viable. She found out by phone while sitting alone at the GCAC and the devastation was immediate. She told Traci she could not save Neil and now she cannot save Malcolm and the weight of that sentence alone could have carried the entire episode.
Traci held her. Traci told her it was not her fault. Traci told her there is always reason to hope. And then Traci sent her out the door to tell Malcolm the truth before the guilt ate her alive.
What Lily did not know is that Malcolm already had the answer to the donor problem. And the answer has a name she knows very well.
Malcolm sat her down at the GCAC and told her he has a son. That she has a brother. Lily asked who. Malcolm Winters said “Holden Novak.” And the look on Lily’s face when that name landed is the kind of moment soap operas exist to deliver.

Stephanie Simmons Said the Quiet Part Out Loud
Stephanie Simmons admitted something to Malcolm Winters that should follow her around Genoa City for the rest of her stay. She told him, to his face, that she likely never would have told him the truth about Holden Novak if he was not dying.
Let that sit.
She carried this secret for decades. She met Jerry, married Jerry, raised Holden as Jerry’s son, and when she heard Malcolm had died, she moved on. Jerry passed. The secret stayed buried. And Stephanie Simmons would have let it stay buried forever if aplastic anemia had not forced her hand.
Malcolm asked how she could have kept his son from him. She said she did not want to disrupt his life. They flashed back to the early days, to Dru and Neil setting them up, to the fun they had, to the spandex. The spark fizzled. She left. And she took a baby with her and never looked back.
Malcolm told her he guesses they will never know what could have been. That line was polite. What was behind it was not.
Holden Novak Is Not Answering His Mother’s Calls
Holden agreed to get tested at the clinic. He did that much. But agreeing to a blood test and agreeing to process the fact that his entire identity is built on a lie are two very different commitments.
He sat at Society mumbling that his mother has been lying to him his whole life. Audra Charles popped up asking questions and he shut her down cold. Then Claire Newman appeared and somehow got him to open up about everything. His biological father. Lily being his sister. Malcolm’s illness. The donor test. All of it poured out of Holden because Claire gets him in a way that Audra never will, and Audra knows it, which is exactly why she was lurking in the doorway listening to every word.
Stephanie called. Holden let it ring. She left a message asking him to open his heart and forgive her. He asked Claire to go for a walk instead.
Malcolm Winters has a son who is not ready to be found, a daughter who just had her entire family rearranged in a single sentence, and a doctor who admitted she would have let him die without knowing the truth if his body had not forced the issue. The Winters family tree just grew a branch that nobody was prepared for and the people standing on it are not steady.
Stephanie Simmons admitted she never would have told Malcolm the truth if he was not dying. Can you forgive that? And how is Lily going to handle finding out Holden Novak is her brother? Sound off below because Thursday is HEAVY!
WATCH NOW: This is how I would write this story…
@soapoperamag Here's How I Would Write This… Years ago it came to light that Lily was really Malcolm's daughter…but what if that test was wrong and all new DNA advancements actually show she was Neil's child all along?! It would give us a Neil legacy child on screen since Moses isn't around and sorta make things right in the world again. Will it happen? Probably not. But, that's the way I would write this storyline. #YR #YoungandtheRestless ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
